Re: Favorite Resident Evil Game
I'll say Revelations...because it's the only one I've played. I was never interested in the series, but I thought I'd give Revelations a try since my 3DS was starving for some games. I was impressed!
Re: Favorite Resident Evil Game
I've only played 4 to completion.
Did they change the giraffe logo yet?

Don't think so. It doesn't remind me of a giraffe. It reminds me of a scrab.

Re: Favorite Resident Evil Game
At the time of release, Resident Evil 2 was fantastic. The way you started out in a destroyed city full of zombies gave the game a classic horror movie feel. Now, through no fault of its own, that idea is so over done and cliche, that it doesn't have the same impact that it did back in 1998. I would have said RE2 was my favorite in the past, but perhaps not now.
Therefore, Resident Evil 4 is probably the best designed for non-stop excitement and scares; though the GameCube remake of the original Resident Evil is the textbook example of how a remake should be done and adds a lot of polish to an already remarkable game in survival horror history.
I also want to give an honorable mention to Resident Evil: Dead Aim. It's one of the lesser known Resident Evil games, but it is one of the very best light gun games I have played. It's the only game I can think of that actually took advantage of the d-pad on the GunCon2 and allowed you to walk around and interact with the game environment, while still having you shoot with the light gun. It was a really creative way of combining the survival horror genre with the light gun genre.

Re: Favorite Resident Evil Game
The Gamecube version of the first game was my favorite.
The large reason is that the first RE is solidly in the horror genre. Having the setting being a giant mansion gives it a gothic flavor the later games really don't have. While RE2 is a great game, it has a stronger sci-fi vibe to it IMO.

Re: Favorite Resident Evil Game
I allways find the need to mention 3... favorite from my heart, RE2... to this day one of my dreams would be to have a remake of this one much like they did with the first one.
REremake is the perfect RE game for me n terms of balance between mood, set, graphics, sound, music... it's one the best experiences you can have with a videogame to this day...
REcv... the game i bought along with my DC! It's a very special game that i think holds up pretty well till this day. I always mention it, though it isn't my favorite, partially due to the fact that i found it unbalanced between the 2 parts (for the ones who own it for the DC you know what i mean).
RE4 started the downfall of the series, i liked it, but it's too different from the others...

viewtopic.php?f=51&t=36241RE2 is probably my favorite... I think. It's kind of easier and damn short when you know what to do, but if felt more refined for the most part, and I loved the whole "descent" vibe with that game... totally Metroid there, you just keep going further and further underground passing through sewers and tunnels only to end up in crazy labs, etc. Epic atmosphere, and the G-virus was amazingly cool.
Toss up between RE1/REmake and RE2 probably. I loved RE3 and RE4 as well, Zero was cool and CV wasn't bad. I wish Mikami could've done one more with Ada as the main character. Screw the series after 4.
Resident Evil 2 is my favorite in the series. Great storyline (the best part, IMO), creepy atmosphere, great new creatures added, and excellent graphics and sound for the time. The cutscenes still look good.
But I definetly have to disagree with you about the damn short part. The first playthrough is about the same as 1 and felt longer than 3 to me. But the fact that the game has 2 separate games in the first playthrough, then 2 more separate games in the 2nd playthroughs (one for each character) makes it the longest game of the original PS1 games, and I daresay even longer than Resident Evil: Code Veronica or at least as long.
