Moderating is an important part in keeping this community as nifty as it is but it is not even close to being the most important. People who really want to help Racketboy.com continue to grow should look no further than what it is that drew them to the site in the first place: Comprehensive, informative articles and guides to help people get the most out of their passion for nostalgic gaming.

If you think about it, almost all of the articles that generate the hits and revenue that keep this site growing are written by a handful of people. Nick, Dave, Ack and a few others. CRTgamer's guides generate traffic like no ones business and JT keeps the PC nexus of this site alive more than anyone.

In total, however, probably less than twenty people have written more than 90% of the material that has drawn 100% of you to this site. Hidden Gems, Best games for under X dollars, Console 101's, Retro store reviews, all of it by just a few people. People stay for the community but they come for the articles. Anyone who really wants to take part in helping this place grow should be looking to see what experience or knowledge they have that could create that next front page article or fill a knowledge gap in the site's features.

To me, helping Racket and the rest of Racketboy create content will always be way more important than settling squabbles and deleting spammers.

Well-said. That's certainly what drew me here. Also, there are a bunch of people who come to the forums because they have trouble with their Saturn modchips, but that's a different story.

That's a tough one for me, unfortunately.

I'd like to contribute to the site in this way, but the fact is that with the exception of certain things too specific to be viable in a Racketboy article (certain series of games for instance. In that sense I'd probably be better suited to write for hg101) all of my gaming knowledge is completely eclipsed by other people here. Even if you're really good, its hard to compete with a master.

I've been trying to come up with something I could write about, but I'm kinda stuck. Which is frustrating, because I'd like to give something back to this site.

Of course, I'm not sure I'd be allowed to submit anything in the first place! I'm pretty sure I'm on a shit list or two.

Well-said. That's certainly what drew me here. Also, there are a bunch of people who come to the forums because they have trouble with their Saturn modchips, but that's a different story.

This is what first drew me here too, the Hidden Gems articles and the outside of the norm of other gaming sites. A lot of expertise here and people who have genuine passionate interest in games both the popular and the obscure. I really enjoy the Forums whenever information is posted and learning from it.

EVERYONE has something to share, a story, a discovery or knowledge about a game some may not know about. Any contribution is worth while. A post does not have to be a huge article, just share anything.

One advantage of the Forums over a Front Page published Article is a Post can always be updated immediately as new information comes out. In addition, all the Replies also add to the knowledge and information. No worries if a first submission is rough, it can easily be Edited. Once an Article or Guide is smoothed out, the Mod Team can decide to Publish on the Front Page. Even then, the original Forum post can continually be updated, good to link a Published Article back to the updated Original Post.

I just saw mjmjr25 lock his first thread, and it was a very good call. What's the point in just naming things unless it was meant to be a parody of the "let's name 100 things" threads that have been populating the forums lately. But as a parody, it has the problems of Poe's Law.
