Is Gamestop Evil? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

The Bad
Its official, spotted a placard that states "Starting April 2, 2012 Gamestop will no longer take in Gamecube games."

The Ugly
Also found out more information about why one of the Gamestops forty miles away tossed out all the gamecube cases and manuals. It is because of the system going away. The North District in my area is mandated to consolidate or toss out the Gamecube cases. My immediate local stores got the word but have held off so far. I called the District Manager, mentioned the the basket of PS2 Envelope only games that are a pain to search let alone worthless and suggested to at least keep the game manuals with the yellow envelopes.

The Good
I already knew Gamestop was going to stop taking in trades and the one store tossing out cases. I brought some empty DVD cases along and asked the employee if I could swap cases, Not a problem even got some extra, I now have plenty of spare Gamecube cases, three are two disc holder cases.

I already did the swap a while ago on another console, I also have ten spare PS2 cases, might have to do the same for the Wii later on?

This really puts time pressure for anyone hunting for Gotcha Force.

I like original cases for the built in the Memory Card Holder. Gamecube cases are also a unique style, just have to file in the disc holder a little to prevent disc damage.

Except that when you do this, not only do you needlessly lengthen your own posts, but you make it seem like you're the only person who contributes to this forum, like you NEED to quote yourself. I don't know if it's something where you feel you need to make yourself heard or what, but I agree with dsh. It's flat-out unnecessary.

The gameplay is definitely worth it. The story and voice acting are craptacular, but meh, whatever. The gameplay itself certainly makes up for it.

The Bad
Gamestop is no longer taking in Gamecube games. I have been hitting all the outlets locally and discovered several of the Gamestop stores are consolidating all the Gamecube games to one location. This is the same store that tossed out ALL the PS2 cases.

The Good
I knew there are a few Gamestops that already have tossed out the Gamecube cases, concerned this Gamestop will do the same. I talked to the Store manager and for now the recently shipped in Gamecube games are safe and will remain CIB. With the recent discovery of PS1 Flight and regular PS1 controller compatibility in Gamecube games, I have been stocking up on the older titles. Buying the same games that I already own in the PS2 that do not work with older PS1 Controllers.

A beautiful CIB display of used games, but for how long?

my local stores went from slim to none.

gamcube games go quickly and now they dont have any!

the ones they do have are in generic cases and are probably scratched badly.

My best guess is that stores in larger cities/markets will have CIB gamecube games.

Which will run out as soon as they have a Buy 2 Get 2 free.

The same thing happened here locally for me too, but with GBA games.

My local Gamestop doesnt have any Gamecube or Xbox games, the only last gen games that they sell are PS2 games. Its not that they quit selling them, they just never had them to begin with.
