Well, all the tournaments have flat-out put bans on gems. I kinda hope it stays that way. From some of the gems that have been revealed through the hackers efforts, this would be a far better game sans gems - especially DLC gems.

Game will probably be worthless online when it comes to ranked matches, but at least casual non-ranked matches and tournament play should be more than enough to make up for it.

I gotta tell ya though, I can't wait to get the game in six months. Team Milk Chocolate looking damn good. Love that Elena's second Alt is a school girl outfit, it's like it was a shout out to the video. http://shoryuken.com/2012/03/08/street- ... e-gallery/

Just sucks that I have to wait six months. I was expecting to wait two months, because I figured the PSV version (and thus, the DLC characters) would come along with the PC version... but six? That's brutal, and I somehow doubt many folks will even still be playing the game by that point.

I really hope they move the release date up by a lot. I also really wish that instead of holding back already complete characters for the Vita, they'd just give us the complete characters now (for a fee, I don't give a shit, I knew I'd be paying for them anyway) and make some new characters for the Vita version in the six months they've got to screw around with.

I think people will be playing in six months. Probably more than now actually.

There are some serious hiccups with the netcode on SFxT, and it appears to be cross-platform. I played for a while with BradTemple and EvilRyu last night and we definitely encountered some frame-skips. I didn't notice the audio glitches that people are reporting, but had the volume down pretty low to begin with since my wife was watching a movie. Anyway, Capcom has already announced on their blog that they're working on a patch. The post was a bit cryptic as to when or what, but they certainly recognize that they've released a problematic online experience.

I should also mention that besides playing with those dudes, I have played probably ten or more matches online against strangers (via leaving the online feature turned on in Arcade Mode) and actually only encountered lag once or twice in those instance. So perhaps the lag really is dependent on connection strength since Temple mentioned he had a bad connect.

Having said all this, I am confident that if/when Capcom fixes the online situation people WILL be playing this game. A lot. The single-player experience of SFxT reveals a game that is really rather incredible. I mean seriously, the game itself has managed to surprise me and surpass SF4 in so many way. In fact, the sort of strangeness of the cast and even a lot of the mechanics remind me more of Third Strike than of SF2. The roster, the fluid controls, everything point to a game that would easily be my favorite fighting game this generation as long as the online aspect was solid.

That good huh? I may pick it up in a few weeks. Just spent some time with DoA4 last night and was not that into it. But DoA5 looks real good.

So in a few weeks either this or Soul Calibur V.

seriously, it's awesome. Like I said, I think if anyone is into Third Strike which is a little less conventional than SF2 and 4, then they'll be into this one. Of course, online is a big deal for a fighting game this gen so it's important that we get a reliable fix.

DOA5 looks amazing, and is definitely on my list of HIGHLY anticipated games this year. That's a day-one purchase for me as well. Soul Calibur V... meh. Like I've mentioned elsewhere, I've finally concluded that the SC series as a whole just can't hold my attention long enough to feel like it's worth an investment from me.
