I was 5, but even then I knew Jar Jar Binks was only there for the kids (I was never a "fun" kid).sabrage wrote:I was 8 when this movie came out. Then, as now, I realized that everything in that movie was retarded except Darth Maul and the pod-races, and therefore it kicked ass.BoringSupreez wrote:I think the pod race only existed for the kids, and so that they could make video game tie-ins.sabrage wrote:No podraces? Worse than Lucas.
Also, please let this turn into a meme of people re-editing the prequel trilogy. I would watch them all.

I thought the first half or so of Falling Down was great. Then they had to have a big reveal and establish a villain, etc. I think the second half really undermines the first.Jrecee wrote:And he did falling down, one of my favorite movies.

Finally saw Puss in Boots. Great movie overall. It seems to me that lately, Dreamworks has been shifting away from their original style (edgy, pop-culture-savy) towards being more like Pixar. More emphasis on story and art style than before. Puss in Boots is very different than the Shrek franchise it's based one.

Glad you liked it, love the fact that you caught on to the differences in writing and filming style. SHREK is and will always be awesome, but it does rely more on pop references. The writing staff for PUSS wanted to tone that down a lot and focus more on characters and story. Always awesome when someone notices little things like that.BoringSupreez wrote:Finally saw Puss in Boots. Great movie overall. The short that comes with the Blu-Ray also kicks major tuckus.

*shrug* I have no difficulty pretending shit like that doesn't exist.indecks wrote:sabrage wrote:Are you serious? A majority of my favorite movies are foreign-language. If you like Coen brothers, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say you have a strong enough stomach to try Oldboy. One of the few foreign-language films I've bothered watching. I enjoyed it, especially as I am interested in history and know all about the fall of Berlin. Of course, like many films of it's type, it has the difficulty of no real main character.
OldBoy is so awesome. I'm really dreading the Spike Lee version.

Wasn't bad. I enjoyed it. It's no Lord of the Rings, but it's a still a good watch. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but anyone that's into these kind of movies should definitely check it out. This Conan felt more like the Conan from the comics than Schwarzeneger did.
