We've all seen this image. It's probably one of the earliest forum image macros. Old Navy decided to put it a one of their kids' shirts! I found this at the store and snapped a photo.

If you are a spider phobic, don't click this link:

Also, you might become a spider phobic if you click the link. Word of warning.

My analysis: probably a good show for its target audience, but not everyone else. Lauren Faust is talented, but I just don't like her style (in any of the shows she's worked on, not just this one). She goes for a, I guess you could say, "soft" form of humor. Her stuff isn't violent and crazy with lots of screaming like Ren & Stimpy (probably the least feminine children's show of all time). Of course, it is a show made for little girls, and they don't usually like "mean" cartoons.

My analysis: Probably the best show ever of its type, but that doesn't make it worth watching myself on purpose. Lauren Faust is very talented, but I just don't like her style (in any of the shows she's worked on, not just this one). She goes for a, I guess you could say, "soft" form of humor. Her stuff isn't violent and crazy with lots of screaming like Ren & Stimpy (probably the least feminine children's show of all time). It's more like a story-oriented sitcom; laughs worked in here and there, but nothing truly bizarre that would mess up the continuity. Of course, this is a show made for girls, and they don't usually like "mean" cartoons.
Fair enough. I'm glad you tried it; now I won't bug you about it anymore, and your opinions regarding the show are completely valid. About the soft humor you mentioned, I know that the team has tried to get in some more slapsticky jokes that you would expect from traditional cartoons, but Hasbro goes through everything, and won't let anything that they see as offensive through because they want to keep it as safe as possible. (Which is why, for those of you out there who are in the know, is why there was such a big fuss over Derpy appearing in that episode lately.) Kind of a shallow decision on their part, but hey, you have to protect your brand, I suppose. :?

Anyway, thanks again for finally giving the show a shot, Boring. Now you never have to watch it again! :P
