Misspellings on games and box art
Misspellings on games and box art
I happened across a NES cart with a misspelling on the label today. I bought "Elimonator Boat Duel" or "Eliminator Boat Duel" depending on what part of the label you read.

Re: Misspellings on games and box art
Not so much a misspelling, but the Wii ported release of Okami embarassingly used a rip of the cover art taken from IGN instead of the actual original cover art from the PS2 version, and it was released with the IGN watermark on the image still visible.

Haha, that Okami thing is a joke.

Is it? I'm not in on it. I saw it reported on Kotaku or something awhile back.emwearz wrote:Haha, that Okami thing is a joke.

I just pulled out my copy to check, and sure enough, there is definitely a faded IGN watermark exactly where it's located in the pic you posted.J T wrote:Is it? I'm not in on it. I saw it reported on Kotaku or something awhile back.emwearz wrote:Haha, that Okami thing is a joke.
I can't believe I never noticed that before!

That's what I immediately thought of. Also, not a misspelling, but:noiseredux wrote:

I feel like you're reaching on that one.BoringSupreez wrote: Shaggy is slightly distorted by the magnifying glass, but Scooby doesn't seem to be.
Anyway, wasn't there only one port of Ys that was released that had an apostrophe (Y's) on the cover art? I read that was a typo.

Re: Misspellings on games and box art
It's Ys: The Vanished Omens for Sega Master System. The spelling on the box art is fine, but the actual cartridge simply says Y's.
Re: Misspellings on games and box art
The Okami thing is definitely real and was hilarious. They offered replacement covers for a while. Shows how much care was put into that port. Probably done by a couple interns.
