Best Console RTS
What are the best console RTS games? So far, I only have Army Men: RTS for Gamecube and Command & Conquer and Starcraft 64 for Nintendo 64.

I'd say Dune 2, but the DOS (and I'm assuming Amiga) versions are far better.
Re: Best Console RTS
I doubt it is the best (I think it is decent/good but not great), but at least you won't get a superior version of it in a PC:
Lost Magic (on the DS).
It is sort of like Herzog Zwei in the sense that you control your own character but also the units. I like that sort of game and it is not that frequent that you have that done at a decent level. On that note (although it is off-topic here) there is a very good PC game Battlezone (the 1998 game) where you drive one of the tanks (you can swap to different ones) but also build a base and give orders to other units. That one is a great game, although a bit on the hard side perhaps. Some of the missions were really hard.

I'm not an RTS fan, but I love Grim Grimoire for the PS2. Excellent game that one.
And even if it does ape its storyline from Harry Potter, you gotta love the Vanillaware artwork.

Ogre Battle 64 should count. It's an RTS with RPG-styled battles.
Re: Best Console RTS
Was Halo Wars any good? I never played it as I don't like RTS's.

Wait, that's an RT-S game???
Can't think of many RTS games on a console. Outside of Ogre Battle, Dragon Force, which are quasi-RTS at best... Thousand Arms which was pretty simple (DC/PC)... maybe Final Fantasy 7's simple Defend the Hill minigame.

Yes, you control units of different mystical creatures and every move you make requires the use of mana. You need to summon elves to help you mine more mana from crystals, and you need to open summoning circle runes to bring in new creatures to add to your troops. It's an odd case of an RTS that is from a 2D sidescrolling viewpoint. You are in a multileveled tower connected by ladders/stairs and you have the "fog of war" preventing you from seeing areas you haven't scouted out yet. You need to strategically balance resource building with attacking, while also considering where you build on the tower to provide yourself more strategic positioning. It follows the standard gameplay of an RTS, it's just a unique RTS in that it is 2D with anime-like characters and takes place in a magic school setting.

I enjoyed it pretty well. It's pretty simplified since it's on a console, but it works very well. If you've got $20 to blow you should give it a try. I hear there are still people playing it online, too.
