Hey guys. I'm tired of googling and finding contradictory answers on different sites so I'll just ask my question here.
Here's the situation. I want to buy the Final Fantasy XIII PAL Limited Edition. I know PS3's are region-free so I know it will work with my PS3. BUT, I only own a standard definition television set and the composite cable connection to my PS3. I don't have the resources to go out and buy a new hi-def tv, that's just not an option, so I'm stuck with my standard television.
My question is this: Will a PAL game work on my television set? I know PAL uses different signals and whatnot.
uhh... yeah. Any help is appreciated guys.
edit: maybe this should've gone in "technical help"? Not sure. A mod can move it if they want.
Will PAL PS3 games work with a standard def NTSC television?

Everything I've seen on the topic suggests that there's no problem if you're using an HDTV via HDMI (at least), but you're out of luck when it comes to SD (unless your TV can accept PAL).
Possible you have a computer monitor to hook the PS3 up to?

Sadly I don't have a PAL-compatible SD TV.isiolia wrote:Everything I've seen on the topic suggests that there's no problem if you're using an HDTV via HDMI (at least), but you're out of luck when it comes to SD (unless your TV can accept PAL).

And I also don't have a computer monitor that accepts HDMI.
I guess I'll to save up money and enter this newfangled High Definition television market.

What input ports does your monitor have? It might be cheaper to invest in a HDMI>DVI cable; they use the exact same video signal so no converter is required.Opa Opa wrote:Sadly I don't have a PAL-compatible SD TV.isiolia wrote:Everything I've seen on the topic suggests that there's no problem if you're using an HDTV via HDMI (at least), but you're out of luck when it comes to SD (unless your TV can accept PAL).

You won't regret it. I saved up for one last year after deciding I had stuck with SD for long enough, and I'm glad I did. HD is so much better for current-gen stuff and movies.Opa Opa wrote:Sadly I don't have a PAL-compatible SD TV.isiolia wrote:Everything I've seen on the topic suggests that there's no problem if you're using an HDTV via HDMI (at least), but you're out of luck when it comes to SD (unless your TV can accept PAL).

It only has one input. RGB. It's too old to function as a decent monitor. I'm probably better off buying an HD TV.sabrage wrote:What input ports does your monitor have? It might be cheaper to invest in a HDMI>DVI cable; they use the exact same video signal so no converter is required.
I might finally get to read the text in Dead Rising. Oh the excitement!BoringSupreez wrote:You won't regret it. I saved up for one last year after deciding I had stuck with SD for long enough, and I'm glad I did. HD is so much better for current-gen stuff and movies.
