That always irks me. People abuse the word racism too. Disagree with someone who isn't white? You're clearly racist.General_Norris wrote: I couldn't agree more, specially since many "feminists" refuse to use a dictionary and make up their own definitions of the word, leading to bullshit discussions where the goal is not solving or pointing out a problem but shaming and proving yourself superior by bludgeoning people with words.

Don't add to my problems by pretending my past views are still held in the present. I do not have any patience for that. Feel free to ask me what I think now.

Anyone who's followed the NA fighting scene since the 90s knows that it deserves less respect than cock fighting. Arcades were almost always full of the most shaddy assholes urban areas have to offer, and there was no surviving that world without becoming like them.
Aris is right in saying that sexual harassment is part of the fighting game community. In fact, all kinds of harassment are part of it. It's the main reason why I don't play fighting games anymore. There's just nothing to look forward to in the community.
I hope they change for the better, but I just don't see it. You can't create a polite and inviting comradery among player by making rules to do so, they have to want it. These people just plain want to be degenerates.

Hoy, as long as I'm there, those same days were classy fair. People would get in lines and mob mentality didn't mean anarchy. We put our quarters up to signify next, we wouldn't elbow the guy next to us, and we would let people know one side was busted. It was dark. It was dank. But dammit, we were civil about it.kingbuzzo wrote:Anyone who's followed the NA fighting scene since the 90s knows that it deserves less respect than cock fighting. And that was the weird thing... these people were playing in person. Not across microphones, but actually next to each other in plain sight. I would expect this kind of trash-talking to be backed by the anonymity of the internet as illustrated by Penny Arcade.kingbuzzo wrote:I hope they change for the better, but I just don't see it. My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

It's not exclusive to bigotry either. When considering public opinion, pointing out the meaning of a word or explaining a misused term is the fastest way to lose a debate. You end up having to defend semantics while they attack you personally. Not a nice thing. If you look carefully you will notice the words that politicians avoid and use fall into this pit.DinnerX wrote:That always irks me. People abuse the word racism too.
