Downfall
One of the few foreign-language films I've bothered watching. I enjoyed it, especially as I am interested in history and know all about the fall of Berlin. Of course, like many films of it's type, it has the difficulty of no real main character.

Are you serious? A majority of my favorite movies are foreign-language. If you like Coen brothers, I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say you have a strong enough stomach to try Oldboy. One of the most mind-blowingly awesome movies I've ever seen.BoringSupreez wrote:Downfall

Mostly the former. This newspaper was a fairly big meme a few years ago.AppleQueso wrote:i'm guessing it's either just a basic stock prop that ends up being used by everyone or some kinda weird inside joke by whoever picks out these props

MIIIB Trailer
Do not adjust your speakers, yes, Will Smith says "shiznit". Not sure who is supposed to be the "hip black guy" in this installment, cause it certainly isn't big willy.
edit*
Jason Seagel won't be in Muppets 2, and a screenwriting friend of mine is working on something "secret". I really hope they are in cahoots.
extra edit* Good Lord. When the hell is THIS IS FORTY actually going to release a trailer? Pretty sure the final edit was done in late 2011, or at least I saw something close to the final edit.
extra extra edit* Aykroyd and Apatow are talking. I will say no more.
Super extra extra edit* Jeez. I hate to say it. but there is no grey area (and yesterday was national pun day) about THE GREY. It's almost as if Melville wrote a slasher flick. It didn't appeal to me whatsoever, but I wouldn't say it is a bad film. It's a rare occurrence, but this is a movie I didn't like but will say is still worth a watch as some people will really dig it.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I haven't avoided foreign-language films on purpose; it's just it's hard to get a hold of good ones. It's not easy finding unbiased reviews for them online (some people love anything foreign automatically, thinking it makes them "cultured" and "intellectual"), plus, they just aren't as readily available as American movies.sabrage wrote:Are you serious? I have watched and enjoyed a few (BTW, not including Australian or British movies, as they are barely foreign), such as The Seventh Seal, The Battle of Algiers, the Soviet version of Winnie the Pooh, and I plan to watch Come and See.

You should read EBERT'S 4 STAR REVIEWS. Isn't hard to find superb foreign movies at all with the right direction.BoringSupreez wrote: I haven't avoided foreign-language films on purpose; it's just it's hard to get a hold of good ones.

Like you said, far from perfect, but well worth the watch anyway. The thing that bothered me most was the lack of realism. Like jumping in the water at -10 degrees and stilll come out alive and well. Don't think so...Luke wrote:But there is no grey area (and yesterday was national pun day) about THE GREY. It's almost as if Melville wrote a slasher flick. Yeah, the visuals are somewhat awful at times, but if you dig the story, who cares? Totally not for me, but THE GREY isn't that bad of a movie. You may have to nudge yourself into liking it, but it isn't an awful movie.elmagicochrisg wrote: Like you said, far from perfect, but well worth the watch anyway. OldBoy is so awesome. I'm really dreading the Spike Lee version.
