Atari Jaguar or Neo Geo CD?
I have started planning for what my next console will be, and on a limited budget. I have been looking at either the Atari Jaguar or the Neo Geo CD. First off the Atari Jaguar interest's me as Atari's last, not hard to collect the best games for, has Tempest 2000 and I am a sucker for cartridge. Second would be the Neo Geo CD. I do not think I would mind the load times and I have owned a AES before but was forced to sell it, and the game prices were high. I have passed over the Jaguar many times before and sort of have a Atari collection going but at the same time really did enjoy the few game I had for the AES the short time I had it,or should I wait on the Neo Geo until I can afford a Neo Geo aes. what do you guys think?

EDIT: or PC Engine DUO?
That's a tough question. The Neo Geo CD has access to a good share of the Neo Geo's whole library, but only has two of the Metal Slug games, and lacks what is in my opinion to be the best fighter on the system, Samurai Shodown V. It also doesn't have Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves or any other late Neo Geo releases. So, you're missing out on some of the better titles in the hardware's library, but it will be phenomenally cheaper, especially considering you can run backups. If none of the above phases you, then by all means, get a Neo Geo CD. The controller is just heavenly.

As for the Jaguar, there are some real gems for the system, especially if you indulge in the homebrew community for the Jaguar CD, but collecting for the system is going to run you a pretty penny. Rayman is tough to find for under $50, and don't even get me started on Battlesphere Gold (undoubtably the prettiest game on the system, and allowed for 128-player network play, but you'll have to take out a second mortgage to pay for the thing). But, it does become very interesting when you play the more technically impressive games for it, from a historical perspective. It also makes a great conversation piece.

those are my opinions about the two also, the lesser library does not bug me with the Neo Geo CD, but I am also a history buff, so the interest in Jaguar.
Re: Atari Jaguar or Neo Geo CD?
The Neo cd has always been an unusual item but has never interested me as obtaining the mvs carts for my arcade cabs is a damn sight easier than chasing after obscure cd`s,there are a few variations with the cd drives with the later one still being 1X speed but having more cache ram,i am afraid thats all i know.
Rayman is good on the Jag but can anything really beat the tense atmpsphere in Alien Vs Predator?
i will never forget playing that until the day i die.

If you just want to play the NGCD games, and don't care about collecting them, then definitely go for that system. You'll save a looot of money overall.
Re: Atari Jaguar or Neo Geo CD?
I can say, having recently buying a NGCD system that it will provide you with much more gaming enjoyment, and I feel that it is more collectable. The Jag will be a decent conversation piece, but apart from the few titles that may be worth playing the system will most likely sit unused.
I have played my NGCD almost every day since getting it, and I love it.

Thanks. when you say save money, do you mean over the Neo Geo AES or Jaguar. I have found I am more of a hardware collector, I rarely have over 30 games per system, unless is it something like the Genesis. I like both equally but seeing as I can only afford to get a new one every few years I am having trouble picking. Plus the initial price of the NGCD is going to be more. But the games might be cheaper. Of course the Jag has Tempest 2000 and Alien vs Predator, but NGCD has Pulstar and KOF

Re: Atari Jaguar or Neo Geo CD?
I'd personally go for the PC Engine Duo. But I also have a fondness for old, weird imports.
Neo Geo CD makes more sense than a Jaguar to me just on the grounds that if I was to make a list of games I wanted for each console, NGCD's would be longer.
