SEGA Game Gear replacement speaker

Hey guys my GG has no sound and I think it is the speaker, but I am not sure, anyone familiar with this and no how to fix it?

It's probably a capacitor gone bad. Some people on this board have experience replacing them. My Game Gear has almost no sound from the speaker, but I haven't tried fixing it yet.

Yeah its almost definitely the capacitor. I bet you can here it thru the headphones? Well that has its own cap that generally lasts longer because it doesn't get as much use.

Its pretty simple to repair if you know how to solder. A bit fiddly mind as there are a bunch of caps rammed onto the tiny sound board.

Awesome, the headphones worked"never thought of that" but it is not very load, and I just noticed my screen is getting very dark unless I hold it a certain way. Is there also a way to fix that? As for the speaker capacitor, how would I know which one?

Yeah the screen is also a result of the caps failing. Sega used these odd square surface mounted caps, buts it possible to replace them with normal ones. I recommend you do them all while its open as caps are pretty cheap.
