Can someone compare the PS2/MAME versions to see if scoring is the same and, thus, comparable?
Not really related to scoring, but one difference in the PS2 port is you can turn off the random levels.

Aaaaaand we're done here. Last one out turn out the lights while we all languish in 150-350k landhashiriya1 wrote:hashiriya1 - 456,000
Guess I better work on another edition of ExedExes Tips & Tricks For Dragon Blaze since I don't see myself getting that good of a score (yet)

Hmm... well I can see that being useful for practice... I don't know about in a full run.. then again, you could just re-do your credit until you got the stage order you want, but that would take a lot longer for someone on MAME to accomplish...hashiriya1 wrote:dsheinem wrote:

Its kinda a tough one to call. Over on shmups, they allow the use of that feature in the Raiden Fighters Aces port, when comparing scores with pcb players, for the reason I described above.
its up to you guys really, I wouldn't care either way. As long as everyone is having fun!

So a new score for me real quick, not much, but good for me:

Now, something happened that I haven't seen anybody mention yet, so I'll talk about it.
In this last run, moments before I died, for some reason this big, golden idol head type thing showed up. It floated around and spewed a fountain of gold coins all over the screen.
Unfortunately, it happened while I was in a shit storm of bullets, so I wasn't able to get many, and I got killed in the confusion anyway.
Obviously its some sort of bonus, but what the hell did I do to activate it? Has anybody else seen this?
Or is it a common thing and this is just the first time I've seen something I should have seen if I were better at the game?

There's one of those big golden things in every stage. They are hidden. You need to defeat specific enemies with dismounts. dsh posted a few links with DB hints a couple of pages ago that featured all the spots. They definitely help with the high scores.CFFJR wrote:So a new score for me real quick, not much, but good for me:

Ah, I didn't go into those links before. Thanks, I'm keeping that list handy.fvgazi wrote: There's one of those big golden things in every stage. They are hidden. I can't beat 279,000I'm used to all the stage 1 boss bullet patterns. When they get harder I'm completely thrown off. Some of the tactics i've used do not work when they are a higher level.
I feel ya on the changes. Things get chaotic fast, and its a pain to remember 4 different layouts for each stage depending on when you face them.
As someone mentioned earlier, that desert stage is a real whore if you get to it third or fourth. The big tanks are hell on wheels.
