Dreamcast shells

Post by fearmeat »

I know that this has been brought up before, but does anyone know where to buy a clear Dreamcast shell? All links in Google lead to dead ends. There is one custom console on eBay right now for $300... seems extreme. Thanks for any leads!

I always wonder about these replacement shells... Are there any that truly match the quality of the original console? (for any console, not just Dreamcast) I was considering buying a replacement for my DS Lite but the most consistent complaints were about just a general lack of build quality.

Sure they come in lots of colors, but I'd have a concern with that too. The DC is built like a tank, and survived a 2 foot fall (my original unit did) while the game was still ON.

I have a replacement shell for my PSP and it's pretty solid. If your screen cover gets damaged you can get a new $4 shell and have it look pristine again. As far as home consoles go, I don't know about good replacement shells. I think painting is a better alternative if you want a well-built but custom console.

Man I wish I would have picked a few of these up when they were still around.

I had a crystal clear one for my PS1 and it looked awesome. The plastic was pretty solid.

I do appreciate the help, but so far all links are to dead ends. The shells are out of stock. The sites that don't list out of stock do not have working e-mail addresses. I'll let you know if I find a way to obtain one! I really want the green shell, as that is what I owned years ago.

I have one of those Treamcast clear replacement shells for the Dreamcast. They fit incredibly well and even have a case for the modem/BBA which really makes it look slick. The only downer is that you will have to carefully pry the Dreamcast logo off of the disc drive lid to affix to the replacement case.

Its a shame they don't sell full black shells. I bet those would sell really well even today.
