I'll be playing on MAME or PS2 DVD-R. Probably won't put much time into it. Focusing on RPGs lately. And my Vita. :D

Another month, another victory!

I will not be saying the same about Dragon Blaze, probably!

It's going to be a tough month, what with an RPG series I never did before on the regular TR, my regular Dreamcast sessions, and my new GBA with Konami's Arcade Advanced which has 3 shmups on it (Scramble, Time Pilot, Gyruss) and new enhanced stages/features! Plays just like the real thing.

ON TO THE NEW GAME --

Intial thoughts
It's Striker 1945 Fantasy Edition!

(i keed I keed)

This is a seriously underrated game!

So much to keep track of, but tons of point scorin opportunities!

The DISMOUNT feature is definitely a game changer! So is the special charge shot!

My observations/tips:

Dismounting right on the enemies gets you gold coins that are worth 200 each. Larger enemies will give MORE.

You all are aware of the tech bonus I see. But...

- It only appears on the second boss form
- If it is too heavily damaged, it won't appear at all, so try to wait before shooting
- If you wait TOO long, a countdown timer appears. If you do not defeat the boss in 10 seconds, it will self destruct, but it will also leave a ring of bullets you CANNOT avoid because they cover a full circle, so don't fool around!

I will post scores once I get better at this

Playing on MAME right now. Just took a look at the game.
108,900 is my first score without knowing anything about the game so far. I feel like I'll be able to get some pretty decent scores when I actually get some time to sit down and learn how to play.

I really like the style of the game so far!

This game still fetches for a pretty penny in Japan. Thinking if I should spend the money and order it from Amazon Japan or just MAME it.

I think it runs pretty good in MAME. Sometimes my bgm will get off track, but it runs just fine. Plus, then you can save state in front of a boss and work on those tech bonuses more efficiantly.

I do have a question for anyone with the port, if anyone does have it. Does it have a true Yoko mode? In every Psikyo port Ive seen, they give you the option to play an overscaned yoko with no scrolling, an overscanned yoko that allows you to scroll the screen up and down (almost like a true yoko, but you can't see the whole screen at once), and possibly TATE. A good way to test is to run another port that does have true yoko (like, basically anything. Raiden, Shikigami, etc), and then try the yoko modes in DB and see if the screen is wider than those true yoko games.

I'm glad people are liking this one. I like it quite a bit, I'm surprised there is no medal chaining like in Strikers and Gunbird. This is probably the most unique vert psikyo shooter that still remains true to their style.

Does anyone randomly know what this pcb fetches?

so is the plan now to put these scores in their own HI SCORE thread? I know something like that was mentioned?

I have the EUR PS2 version. I'll check out what the screen options are for you later.

Hey, thats a great idea to make high score threads from the aftermath of a month of competition. Should be a good way to spark further interest in these games.

Thanks Noise!

I've been linking the high score posts in the OP so they can be seen easily after we've moved on, new threads could be cool though.

Got mine at $220 which is slightly under market. Usually $250ish - there is one on ebay at $280.
