advice on getting good turbografix 16 games

Post by mas »

Hi Everyone,
After I get my controllers from ebay I want to stop buying games for my other consoles and just concentrate on getting tg-16 games. Like I said before I dont care if it's just a hue card which will be the cheapest route but I want to ask everyone if they can give me your choice on maybe ten top titles for the tg-16 without killing my wallet. I might just want to buy 2 or 3 this week so give me a heads up on what I should get. Thank you. I forgot to add I do own kieth courage. I love anything but rpg's.

Still standout titles, but those prices are a bit out of date. Raiden and Neutopia in particular have really shot up in price. Bloody Wolf really ought to be on the list too. :)

similar boat so i will share my starter set and prices paid:

bonks adventure : 12 off ebay shipped (complete unboxed)
bonks revenge and galaga 90: 25 shipped together (complete unboxed)
china warrior: holy giant sprites! came with the system, more than 5 shipped is a rip (complete unboxed)
Fantasy Zone: gift from the lady but more than 12 shipped is a rip (complete unboxed)

also have a neoflash PCE coming in the mail since TG-16 games are few and far between, maybe something to consider!
I always have a ton of things that are not in my thread. Check my retro shops facebook page at facebook.com/thrillhousegames for pics of new items, I'm always happy to work a deal!

Another OBEYS!

R-type
Alien Crush
Blazing Lazers
Bonks Adv.
Dungeon Explorer
Galaga '90
Ninja Spirit
Sidearms
Legendary Axe
Super Star Soldier

If your wallet gets heavy and get a CD-ROM functionality, then:
Parasol Stars, Y's Book 1/2, Dracula X, Parodius, Star Parodier, Spriggian, Lords of Thunder, Devils Crush, Military Madness, Bomberman '94, Air Zonk...and of course Magical Chase.

I'll +1 for the Bloody Wolf. Other really good, but average (sorta hidden gem-ish) are Dragon Spirit, Puyo Puyo, Buster Bros., Psychosis, Aero Blasters...I also would like to give a shout to Power Golf, I play the Hu and JP CD part 2 quite a bit.

2 out of 3 an't bad :)

What I feel is fare:
Vigilante = $0 (okay, maybe a dollar if it's compete)
Victory Run = $5 (Launch title, nothing spectaular)
Splatterhouse = $10-15 (good shit there, nothing like whacking the undead)

CIB?

^ I actually really liked Vigilante as well. Sure it's pretty simple and you'll beat the game before the pizza arrives, but it was a fun game.
The waning motivation to save "Madonna" only increases the challenge with time. :D

I'd just recommend Replacing "Victory Run" with the unique, quasi-RPG "Final Lap Twin". :)

P.S.- "CIB" on the Turbo can mean "Digital Press Complete" (Game, Sleeve, Manual & Jewel Case (where applicable)) or "Retail Complete" (All the previous + Original Printed Cardboard box). It's worth specifying as the effect on price can be pretty dramatic.

$10-$15 on Splatterhouse would be quite optimistic unless it's "game only" IME.
