What makes the game unique is the environments it's set in. I can't think of any other RPG that has such a vast array of worlds to explore (prehistoric times, ancient egypt/rome, midevil times, and a space station).
lol because Chrono Trigger offers nothing like that....

I kid I kid, I own and loved both.

No, not Neighborhood Combat. That one can sometimes be tough even for fans of the series to enjoy, so we know it doesn't belong here.
Oh. I thought you were going for the RPG: Ranma ½: The Treasure of the Crimson Cat Gang

Hm. I guess that's my entry for today. I'll have to wait to see if someone else noms Front Mission or Tactics Ogre before I return.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

Seeing all these Ranma 1/2 games just reminded me of an old personal favorite that I think I'll add to the list

Tenchi Muyo RPG

It's a simple and fun strategy rpg set in the universe of the original OAV (or is OVA?). It was never released stateside, but there was a fan translation and a patched rom that I found to play it years ago. I used to be a huge Tenchi fan and Ryoko is one of my favorite female anime characters ever! Look at this list, is the SNES awesome or what? and that's coming from a Sega biased guy too! Even though I like Sega better than Nintendo there's no denying how amazing a console the SNES is with its library

The only reason I didn't is because, while I love the game, its very simplistic as rpgs go, and doesn't really stand up compared to the rest of the snes rpg library, which we all know is ridiculously good and thus hard to match.

Not that I'm arguing now that you've submitted it. Like I said, I love it. :D

Really? That's interesting. The way you've talked about the SNES before, I always assumed you were a nintendo guy. Good to know you're actually on my team.

I spend a lot of time with both consoles when I was young so I appreciate both. I've always like Sega's style and approach to things more than Nintendo's though. As a collector though, I kind of like collecting SNES games more because it's kind of a challenge getting CIB SNES games with those flimsy cardboard boxes they had. It makes me appreciate the ones I have a bit more than my CIB Genesis games

Ah I'm the same way. The team thing was a joke. :) Though Sega is undoubtedly my favorite, and the Genesis my preferred console among all.

About those boxes, aside from one (rather beat up) Super Famicom game, all of my snes games are cart only. I stick them in UGCs of course, so they do look good, but it'd be nice to get a couple of the cardboard boxes here and there.

Having said that though, I just love the Genesis (and Master System) hard cases. They're solid and they look damn good. Even back then, I was pissed when they switched to cardboard.

Not only that, but if you were to go cart-only with both, then Genesis carts can easily fit into any storage unit built for old cassette tapes. SNES games... don't really fit anything that's not specifically tailored to them.

If you're serious about wrestling games, you probably know about the influential Fire Pro Wrestling series. They have some of the deepest gameplay in the genre. If you care about technical wrestling and not just sports entertainment, this is where it's at. There's quite a few good wrestling games on the SNES, a good chunk of which are Japanese exclusives and Fire Pro Wrestling clones. This particular entry in the Fire Pro Wrestling series has over 150 unique wrestlers, over 500 moves, a deep create a wrestler mode, 4 player play, familiar WWE/WCW wrestlers, and gameplay similar to N64 classics like Wrestlemania 2000 and WWF No Mercy

There is an english rom for this game floating around out there. Here are some recognizable characters in the game:

Hulk Hogan
The Undertaker
The Steiner Bros.
The Legion of Doom
Vader
The Ultimo Dragon
Sabu
The Great Muta
Chris Benoit
TAKA Michinoku
Jushin “Thunder” Liger
Ken Shamrock
Johnny Ace

Don't know what number we're on, but let me slide this one in before the list closes

Another fine HAL title from 1991. I've mastered this game so well that I can get a new ship every stage from 2-6. Good use of Mode 7 too.
