Parodius is a parody series of Gradius made by Konami, who are the masters of making fun of themselves. Parodius Da is the second parodius game after the original MSX game that frankly isn't worth your time.

Parodius Da is very similar to Gradius III, but doesn't suffer from as much slowdown and also isn't nearly as difficult. Still, it's an extremely enjoyable game with an awesome, off-beat soundtrack. The Parodius games will literally having you pause the game and stare at the screen in disbelief at what you're seeing. There are some crazy elements here that often will leave you wondering if the game devs weren't on the influence of some serious drugs when they made it.

Re: Lets name the Top 200 SNES games
When it comes to Parodius, it's not a matter of if they were on drugs or not. It's not even which one. The real question is what drugs *weren't* they on
Now, for #172: Kirby's Dreamland 3! Wait, nobody's posted this one yet? Seriously?

As you can see from the screenshot, HAL decided to pick a unique art style for KDL3. In case you don't know, KDL 1 and 2 were on the GB, but for some reason they named their next console Kirby as if it were one of them. KDL3 does sort of expand upon 2, but I personally think it would have been better marketing to give it a unique name. It's an amazing, overlooked game in the series that's usually forgotten about while everyone's rambling on about KSS and K64- both great games, but this one deserves just as much glory as them.

Likewise, my Super Troll Islands was effectively the game version of trollface in response Street Hockey.noiseredux wrote:he OFTEN hates things that everyone else hates.Gamerforlife wrote: I would say yes, but you never know with noise. He sometimes likes things that everyone else hates![]()
But on, this time I was trolling. Which I figured was obviously a joke since it came during an argument on ther merits of Ultraman.

Re: Lets name the Top 200 SNES games
We've already got the original, but I think the sequel is also very good.

Seems like this brainstorming session is losing a bit of steam, so I'll pile on a bunch of other recommendations, basically great RPGs that have fan translations:
Dragon Quest I and II
Dragon Quest IV
Dragon Quest V
Fushigi no Dungeon 2
Live a Live
Shin Megami Tensei
Star Ocean
Treasure Hunter
Adding them all in would definitely make the list overall list RPG heavy, but is that such a bad thing when the SNES is one of the best consoles for the genre?

again dude, nominate one game per post.
Re: Lets name the Top 200 SNES games
I don't know if members can add more than 1 game to the list (I did with Axelay) but since it looks like we're starting to run out of ideas and Japanese titles are on it, let me add another SFC classic --

One of the finest action RPGs I've ever had the good fortune to stumble upon. The box says Square, but they PUBLISHED it. It was developed by HAL Laboratory! Plus, English translated ROM is not difficult to find. Another great title we missed out on.
Good call on Skyblazer earlier -- that's a highly under-rated game too.

Re: Lets name the Top 200 SNES games

Hard to learn how to play this game well, but it's an interesting fighter if you've got the patience for it. Very much a love it or hate it type of game. You have to admire its complexity though. It features weapon locks, fatality combos, disarms and a variety of other stuff. You can break weapons and even break apart enemy armor. It's got a lot of moves and different endings. The game's AI will kick your ass though. This game's for the hardcore
Soundwise, I have to say that the sound of weapons swinging and "clanging" against each other is pretty badass. Some of the music is badass too. Check these out
Visually, it's got this sort of Conan the Barbarian look to it, certainly not typical for a fighter. Overall, the SNES version seems to have been the main development platform and looks/sounds a bit better than the Genesis one, though, to be fair, I've heard some say the Genny version plays a bit smoother.
Funny video that tells you everything you need to know about the game. Um, it's not safe for work though, may offend some.
