Which game medium do you prefer?

Got to be carts, there is something very tactile about them that I love.

Carts > Cards > Discs > Downloads.

My vote goes to cartridge. I love them because they're virtually indestructable, most of them are easily stackable and look awesome on a shelf and they're perfectly collectable without a box or case.

Carts, followed by digital. I frankly hate optical media. CDs and DVDs are just flimsy. With carts or digital, you never have to worry about the condition of your game. Yeah, I know there's no actual game with digital, but it doesn't counteract my point. I loved the idea behind UMDs encasing the disc in a protective shell, but the fact that every UMD features an opening within that shell just defeats the purpose
Blueray is nice though, but we should have had it years ago

I also hate optical media for making the dreaded load times an acceptable part of our gaming, and gaming was forever slowed down as a result

Computer games had loads even before CDs. Remember floppies?Gamerforlife wrote:I also hate optical media for making the dreaded load times an acceptable part of our gaming, and gaming was forever slowed down as a result

I guess you have a point, still annoying though. I would love to sit down and play a modern game and never have to stare at a loading screen. That's one of the joys of playing old, cartridge gamesBoringSupreez wrote:Computer games had loads even before CDs.
