DS lite Reshelling
Planning on reshelling my old DS lite. I know how to do this but I'd like some tips so to avoid breaking it.

Hey matey, have done quite a few of these now (done 5 + 1 refurb on the weekend).
Advice hmmm take your time. I have gotten it down to the best of 1 hour being very patient.
Are you sticking with the same colour or different?
If you are going different and going to keep the original touch screen use the plastic tool you get to run it under the coloured trim piece and gently lift it up while it is in the console. DO NOT remove the board and try and remove the trim piece, it will get damaged a lot easier. You can replace the touch screen though if it is damaged as they are quite cheap on ebay etc. If you replace the touch screen, sit this in the case and then put the LCD on top of this, so it lines up perfectly.
Watch where you put the screws! Typically there are 3 lengths, short (4-top case around the screen, 2-hold main board, 1 inside battery compartment when case is together). Medium (there are 2 types tri-head and ordinary phillips, tri head hold the bottom case together and the ordinary phillips go under the rubber plugs on the bottom of the console). Long these are used to hold the power/light trim piece on only! Then there is the little black screw under where the DS cart goes in.
With the battery cover I like to put the c-clip on the screw from the old battery cover onto the new one. Use a small screw driver to pop it off the screw and transfer to the new one using small pliers. Also while we are here, make sure the rectangle nut to fasten this is secure and lined up in the case. In some cases it will be tight, others may be loose, use a small bit of tape to secure.
Be careful with the trigger springs and note there is a left and a right. The fork that the spring sits in make sure the long part sits DOWN in this.
The top half of the case is a delicate operation of putting in the microphone and wi-fi antannae first but leave the wires dangle, roll the screen ribbon cable and pass through hole and fit the screen (watching you don't touch for the finger prints). then you can run the 2 wires through.
Here is a pic of what I did on the weekend. The green and smoke black are mine, which had board issues (1/ replace slot cart and 2/ replace inductor) to fix, the others are for Game Traders (retail store in Australia). The plain black just required a new touch screen, the others have "fancy cases" as GT are keen.

I'm going for a different colour. I'm reshelling it because I broke the hinge but I decided to pick a see through blue shell as:
1) It was the cheapest one that wasn't bright pink
2) It looks a lot cooler than my current black shell
Thanks for the tip anyway and I'll make sure I order one of those plastic tools with my shell.
