And there was me under the impression that it was SEGA's questionable business decisions that led to their downfall - namely, the MegaCD, the 32x and the Saturn. Calling the PS2 the sole reason for the Dreamcasts failure is just vacuous, when all Sony did was release a perfectly competant console that trounced it's competitors with it's hugely succesfull and well regarded brand name - and thats the difference right there, SEGA's brand name wasn't worth squat to the average consumer anymore, not after the 32x and MegaCD add-on's for the MegaDrive that not only were very expensive, but also had very little in the way of games worth playing, and not after the Saturn's expense, poor initial title selection and lackluster 3d graphics left the consumer underwhelmed.

Anyways, back on topic - I too am disiapointed with the Wii's title selection, if it wasn't for Mad World and the promise of LostWinds 2 I probably would've already sold it, theres just so little I care about.

Got to say that I love my wii and there are already plenty good games out there to keep me interested. I understand that there is a lot of shovelware on the shelves but just dont buy it if you dont want to encourage it. Its an unfortunate side effect of being the most popular console and nintendos anyone can play market campaign. These new gamers are ill educated in using the internet or the press to pick decent games and so they thrive.

I agree that nintendo wouldnt be here without the long term fans, but they wouldnt be at the top of the tree if it wasnt for the new market of gamers they have created for themselves and I say fair play. Sony had the market cornered so rather than risk cash on another third place console they turned their attention to a new technology and a new group of people and have made a shed load of cash which is basically what this is all about though right? Neither Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft really care about betraying any of. They will always go where the money is and they cannot be blamed for that.

I'm sorry you are dissappointed with your wii though.

Madworld looks brilliant though, lets hope it lives up to the hype

The things I want from Nintendo is a Star Fox game that is a rail shooter and for them to keep F-zero as awesome (maybe better) than the last game. The Wii wheel or the inclusion of weapons would ruin the game so I hope they don't do that. And a Kid Icarus game wouldn't hurt either. Oh yeah, and how about bringing Mother 3 to America.

That doesnt mean I cant love both companies can I, sheesh you dont have to just pick ONE company, those are my 2 of choice, I love Sony, ive grown up w/ them but I love Sega's arcade style.
Yes, that's great and all but point is, if you are a big enough fanboy to randomly flame a thread like this, then you should at least be faithful to one of the companies you devote yourself to.
OMG, this personal vendetta stuff against Sony is SOOOO funny!

I love Sega systems and they are prob my favorites, but to get all WWF drama about it is really quite juve.

I love this site in all of it's Sega-dick-riding glory... but I'm starting to wonder if there isn't some truth to what the rest of the industry says about us DC lovers.

Sorry to go here on this thread... I'll start a new one!

I severly doubt they would bring weapons into it, that was and always will be MK territory but they will include the wheel as an option and so long as there are multiple control set ups I dont see it being a problem

The one thing I hate about the Wii is how most every game uses the motion controls. Sure on some games like Wii Sports it's great, but on games like Need for Speed Pro Street it's totally uneccessary. There are only about 3 games so far on the Wii I've enjoyed. Hopefully Animal Crossing Wii will be a good game (and not use motion controls).

Isn't that point? I mean, if you strip the motion controls away... then what is the Wii really?

Exactly! I dont get people who complain about the DS touch screen for the same reason. I agree that some games just dont work very well but to give the developers due they are still experimenting with what actually works

Kevman - you're just a geeky otaku. Who cares about what you want?

Seriously, though, I totally agree with what you've said and it's the reason I don't own a Wii. I would LOVE to play Galaxy, but I feel everything else is either incredibly shallow or rehash. The thing about the "hardcore" stuff they actually ARE bringing out is not only that's it's rehas but that it's been dumbed down. Mario Kart may be fun, but from what I've played it seems a little simplified in order to accomodate the motion control. That's awesome for my 4 and 6 year old nephews, but I'm going to have to pass. I've been playing that game since 1993 anyway, so why would I want to step backward now?

So then you ask yourself, when Ninty does announce some "core" games at E3 as they said they will, what will they be? Likely to be dumbed-down versions of ... Starfox, F-Zero, blah, blah, blah. Those have all had their shining moments but I'm seeking out stuff that's new -- and waggle ain't gonna be enough to scratch my "new" itch. Some of the other stuff that's good just doesn't grab me, like Brawl or Paper Mario. NMH and Madworld look pretty cool, but still, not enough for me.

I just think either I passed them up, or they passed me up. It's a shame because like others have said I'm also a longtime N fan since 1987. They're THE reason I like games to this day. One thing that makes me feel good about what they are doing, however, is that other young kids will now catch the bug all over again with stuff like the Wii and Pokemon. You can't start out with Call of Duty and Burnout when you're a five year old, ya know?

... And the PS2 didn't kill Sega. Bootaaay is right: Sega killed Sega.

I agree, it seems that whatever game they do add motion controls too is forced on there. I hate when all you have to do is a "flick". Either make the Wii live up to its potential or don't bother.
