When handhelds could fit in your pockets...
Re: When handhelds could fit in your pockets...
If only Nintendo would put out a handheld that was slim as a Droid Razr, and all these publishers and developers could get along and just allow the entire SNES/NES/Genesis/SMS/GB/GBC/GBA/N64/PSONE etc... libraries to be downloaded on some "app" store and said handheld would probably have the same control setup as the new Vita with 2 analog sticks, man that would be sweet.

I don't carry my systems in my pockets. I put them in my purse with games and cell phone and car keys.

This is really the only benefit of carrying a purse. In fact, I bought mine with two specific criteria in mind: 1) must fit books that are larger than mass market paperbacks, and 2) must fit chunky portable video game systems.cookie monster wrote:I don't carry my systems in my pockets. Standards. We have them.

I just wanted to say that.

Despite the problem it's posing you fellas on this thread, I do wish I could carry everything in my pockets and ditch the bag. It can be such a hassle.
Actually, here's a weird question I've always wanted to ask of more dudes: how is it comfortable to keep your wallet in your back pocket? Does it get in the way? Aren't you afraid it's going to fly out or get stolen?

Thanks -- but if anybody rocks, it's my husband, because he held my purse the entire time we were at a Keith Apicary concert so that I could jump around like an idiot without putting innocent people or my cargo at risk (my Sega Nomad was in there, awaiting an autograph). If that's not love, I don't know what is.CFFJR wrote:I just wanted to say that.

Wallet in back pocket is not comfortable at all, even in loose pants. Also, if you do it all the time, you get that bad looking wallet-shaped wear mark. I only put wallet in back pocket if I really need to. Otherwise it is in the front.

I just know that I've done the purse shopping thing many a time with my wife, and I wish she had the same criteria. I'd get a lot more involved in the process.
As for the wallet thing, I don't keep mine in my back pocket. Its extremely irritating to sit on (though I imagine people get used to that, they must), and it makes it easier for pickpockets to snag.
I keep mine in my front right pocket. That's the only place that's acceptable to me.

It is weird when you first start carrying one. But if you start young, then you really don't have a lot in there at first. Maybe a couple of bucks, but no ID, credit cards, membership cards, grocery discount cards, insurance cards, and on and on. Eventually you get more stuff packed in there and it curves to conform to your ass, so that helps it stay put and not be so obnoxious. You get used to it and it can feel weird when it isn't there. Obviously a pocket that closes with a button or velcro can help with any possible escapes and dissuade pickpockets, but it will generally stay put. Tighter pockets are actually better than loose ones as you could pop it out of a looser one if you slide down just right against a ridge.Key-Glyph wrote: Actually, here's a weird question I've always wanted to ask of more dudes: how is it comfortable to keep your wallet in your back pocket? My wallet is usually between 1/2 and 3/4 inch thick depending on the the time since I last cleaned it out. I don't understand people that have a wallet an inch thick or more. I've seen ones that are 2-3 inches thick and are a huge rounded lump. I don't understand why people need that much stuff in there or how they can stand to have it in their pocket or sit down.

That's where I keep mine, along with my change, my cell phone.....come to think of it, I never really have room for a handheld in my pocket.....Zing wrote:...Otherwise it is in the front.

Wallet in the back feels okay, but I like to put it in the front because it's much harder to pickpocket in that position.
Actually, I've been thinking about ditching wallets altogether and using money clips so if I do get mugged at gunpoint I won't lose things like credit cards or whatever.
