Wait Wha? I must be going crazy.

After getting a major nostalgic feeling for Sonic CD I went back to researching ways to play this again. After reading some articles on Wiki and such I stumbled upon something really wierd. Apparently Sonic CD only ran on Windows 95 and actually would check to see if you had Windows 95 and would not boot if you didn't have it.

Now this is where the freaky part comes in because when I owned this game my computer was running Windows 98, so how the hell did it work?! I swear I never had windows 95 as a kid and this game worked beautifully on my computer, but apperently it wasn't supposed to.

Maybe you guys can shed some light on this because I'm lost.

It runs on Windows 95 or any subsequent OS, just as most software would. It's just not compatible with any prior OS because it would not have been using the appropriate APIs (DirectX or Dino libraries).

95 compatable simply meant a 32-bit operating system, unlike 3.1 which was a 16-bit OS. however because the processors were optimized for an older set of instructions, you would probably have a difficult time running it today on vista or any 64-bit os

There is always the option for running programs like the older OS in XP and Vista (I know it's in Vista and it should be in XP as well).

Yes, it did come out for windows. I just sold my copy on ebay since I never liked the idea of installing software and now I just play on the Sega CD.

I tried awhile ago to run it on my XP machine and it said I was missing the Dinos.

Sadly I don't have the disc anymore (well I can't find it, might have thrown it out). I found a version of it on Download.com and if you say it will work on Vista I guess I'll try it.

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

My friend you are god. Only problem is no music. :?

It was actually a simple task. Get the setup on your hard drive, run in Windows 95 compatibility mode, and then you can use this patch and it should work fine.

Jsut need to get that Sonic Boom working

Oh wait it's a trial version.

I'm assuming I just delete the files off the C drive to uninstall it, because there is no uninstall option.
