I've noticed that all the new songs that are put on PSN for Rock Band says it's for "Rock Band" (as opposed to "Rock Band 3" -- the most recent installment). So how does that DLC work? Do all Rock Band DLC work? Do the songs you download from PSN work for every version of PS3 Rock Band?
sub-question: my wife's guitar controller is the one from Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock... that will be compatible with Rock Band(s) right?

Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
I believe the new DLC won't work on older games, but I haven't tested it. All old DLC works on the newer games. As for the guitar controllers, they should be cross compatible.

Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
after poking around, I think you're right Popo -- basically, I think Rock Band 3 will play DLC from any of the earlier games.

Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
They should but they aren't. GH, GF and Rock Band were all designed to be mututally incompatible. I think Sony told them to grow up and make them work but I'm not sure if it worked out.MrPopo wrote:As for the guitar controllers, they should be cross compatible.

Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
According to this
http://www.rockband.com/compatibility
the Warriors of Rock guitar should work just fine with RB3. I know that my GH guitars work on my RB3, but I'm on 360. Heck I can even use my GH3 guitar on RB3 (if the red button hadn't died).
The DLC released before RB3 will work on RB1, 2, and 3. The DLC released after RB3 only works on RB3.
You can also, of course, export RB1, 2, Lego, Green Day, and AC/DC track pack into RB3 and never have to change a disc except to play the Beatles

Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
^yeah it sounds like RB3 is the way to go. For under $20 I can grab that and have access to a catalog of over 2,000 additional DLC add-on songs if I want to expand.
Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
Any GH guitar will work with any Rock Band game. It is RB guitars that weren't initially compatible with GH games because Activision.General_Norris wrote:They should but they aren't. Re: Question about Rock Band DLC
Yeah, they fixed it in later games but never patched GH3 for it.noiseredux wrote:yeah my RB guitar doesn't work with GH3 but it did work with Warriors of Rock.lwcook wrote: Any GH guitar will work with any Rock Band game. RB3 is definitely the best bang for the buck.
