While Rockabilly got its name from Rock and Hillbilly its sound is more rooted in Rock with western swing, boogie, and blues. Not very Country oriented at all actually outside of the roots of the last three I mentioned. Most Rockabilly bands that could really be called as such you hear a much more heavy handed blues and swing sound mixed with that early rock sound. Country Rock has a much more squared of twangy country sound (think Conway Twitty), country/good ole boy/western themes, and with a heavy Rock topper.
This is really just my opinion though, I think Rockabilly is used too often with just that classic Rock and Roll sound.
Shit now I wanna listen to the Stray Cats.

No Judas Priest? ... for shame!

Entire episode is discredit due to negligence. No Blue Oyster Cult? Seriously -- Secret Treaties is missing?

I had planned on including Judas Priest - Unleashed in the East...because I freakin' love the song "Green Manalishi (With the Two-Pronged Crown)"...but sadly I couldn't because the video was getting long. However, Priest would definitely make it into my 80s list.

Actually, I've never heard the term 'country rock', unless someone is trying to explain the sound. Rockabilly is the only term I've heard used for the Stray Cats. My mom also considers Elvis rockabilly, but that is deffinitely one that I see on the line.
Meh, I still don't understand how Psychobilly isn't country related. People are crappy at naming this stuff.

Re: Best Hard Rock Albums of the 70s
A few of my picks and personal favorites for the best hard rock albums of the 70s are:
Blue Öyster Cult - Self-Titled / Agents of Fortune
Its kind of hard to choose between these two because they are both fantastic. It may be a matter of taste as the self-titled album from 1972 is a bit more psychedelic and weird than Agents of Fortune.
Scorpions - Virgin Killer
Again, it was kind of hard to choose this one among the impressive 70s Scorpions catalog, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be this one.
Truth and Janey - No Rest for the Wicked
This one is a bit more obscure, but trust me, it rocks hard.
Rainbow - Rising
YES.
Jerusalem - Self-Titled
One of the earliest "heavy rock" bands. Revered by Ian Gillan.

Re: Best Hard Rock Albums of the 70s
I was never really into "hard rock" besides Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc. However, that time period was an amazing shift in music. (nice video btw!)
The 70's had a ton of great rock records (whether it was punk, hard, psych, blues, avant-garde).
Gang of Four - Entertainment
Wire - Pink Flag
Killing Joke - S/T...yeah it was released in 1980, but it included some of their songs from the very late 70's.
Black Flag - Nervous Breakdown
X (the Austrailian band, not LA) - Aspirations
Captain Beefheart - Shiny Beast/Bat Chain Puller
Stark Reality - Now
The Saints - I'm Stranded
