I have read both of his books and listened to his comedy albums many times...

One of the best comics in my opinion... it is a sad day for comedy... all of those crappy wanabe comedians, like Larry the Cable Guy, need to keep their mouths shut and give a day of silence out of respect for someone they will never be as funny as!

Wow, just wow, I saw him live last year, he was awesome. He is my idol, my hero, he was the man who understands my point of view...now I am depressed

But hey, we got to look at the bright side, like the game Soul Calibur's disembodied voice once said "The Legend Will Never Die".

Heard this on the radio this morning and it fucking ruined my day. Couldn't believe it. He seemed in great health. I was convinced he'd make it to 100.

Edit: Meanwhile this article basically says he's always been in shit health and was fucking his life up with drugs. I knew about the pot, but never heard about all this other stuff. Meh, whatever.

He will be missed. I've laughed many times at his stand up, especially his 70's and 80's stuff. Good times camping with an 8-track player.

Hah, how could you not? Have you SEEN some of his 'mid-period' standup stuff? Pretty obvious he was on coke, at the very least. He was clean from 2004 up until his death, though, as far as I've heard.

That said, he was (is!) my favorite comedian, and the world is worse off for having lost him. And now the entire Holy Trinity of Comedy is dead, too. Sigh.

Actually I stuck to the CDs. I rarely saw his acts. Only listened to them.
