Potential Employers: If you are NOT going to hire me, just tell me. Seriously, I've put the legwork in on my end - the least you assholes can do is allow me some closure and tell me that the job has been filled, or "We went with another candidate," or, "You're not a good fit for this company." But don't ignore my followup phone calls and never let me know what's going on.. Fucking assholes!

Ticked: I go through the trouble of filling out an application for your job opening, submitting a resume and a tailor-made resume, follow through with one friendly telephone inquiry about the position, and finally interview and be told "you are a perfect fit for this position" - only to be completely fucking ignored! Seriously??

What do you mean by that you were ignored? I don't think I ever came across a company that told me a job was filled. I mean, if they don't contact me, then I'm not what they're looking for. I would keep looking for a job until I have signed a contract or paperwork with someone.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:Ticked: I go through the trouble of filling out an application for your job opening, submitting a resume and a tailor-made resume, follow through with one friendly telephone inquiry about the position, and finally interview and be told "you are a perfect fit for this position" - only to be completely fucking ignored! A company is not going to call all of the people it interviewed to say that the job has been filled, thanks for your time. You're just going to have to develop a thicker skin and not take things personally. It very well could be that a position did go to someone else and then a week later, another position opens up that you're perfect for. Then the company could go back and pick someone that was interviewed recently.

^That.
There are some professions that will make a courtesy call or send a letter - at my place of work, the criteria is this:
If it is a position where we would recruit and negotiate a wage, a letter / phonecall will be sent to all applicants.
If it is a position where wage is not negotiated, where recruiting is not involved, there is nothing done other than hire the most qualified of the applicants. In these cases it is the responsibility of the applicant to call and request info on whether or not the position has been filled.

He didnt screw it up and the interview went really well. I should find out next week. But if it goes through, I will have flexibility with my job and a bigger cube. It is also a position where I could get an office transfer to another market (where I am planning on moving anyway). Making the move up there not as hard since I will have the same job just in a different office. I also will have the option of working from home occasionally.mjmjr25 wrote:Tough advice to take, but ignore him. Kill the interview and let it be decided on your merits.fastbilly1 wrote:Smiled - Interview tomorrow for a much better job with my company (different department)
Ticked - It is in the office next door to the manager who has been trying to get me fired recently. I have this feeling he is going to try and screw it up somehow.
Good luck!
Thanks mjmjr25

I've had a situation where I wasn't contacted, so I called. Multiple times over two weeks, all to no answer. I finally got an answer one and as soon as I asked if the position was filled, they hung up on me.mjmjr25 wrote:If it is a position where wage is not negotiated, where recruiting is not involved, there is nothing done other than hire the most qualified of the applicants. I think I had good reason to be pissed off.

Yeah, but did you identify yourself as commoner Mi. Me., or Multiple-World Record-Holder and Future-Ruler-of-the-Universer Mi. The devil is in the details.
Congrats fastbilly - I think we all have "those" types in our business environments and it is much easier to give advice than take it. Always so tough to separate ourselves when we have so much first-hand knowledge of an environment. Sounds like you did well though, hopefully the desired end result is closer today than it was yesterday.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I interviewed for the position and was basically told in so many words, "You're a perfect fit - we have to interview two more people, but you can expect to hear from us tomorrow."
Tomorrow didn't come and I decided to call back and thank them for the opportunity and inquire about my application status. No call back.
I called back about once a day and left messages, (all polite to please return my call about the position,) and not one call back.
Normally, yeah - I'd think it's no big deal - they found somebody else. But don't tell me I basically got the job and then ignore my followups. That's not only rude - it's unprofessional.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Smile: I finally got that copy of Gunbird 2... kind of. I asked about it again at the same store a couple of days ago. The lady working checked the system and said they did have it, but it was at another location. So they were going to have someone drive it up after hours. I figured that they had just moved it to the other store and it wasn't "missing" as they had initially told me a week or so before.
I went to pick it up and it was the US version and not the import I had seen sitting on the shelf for months before. *shrug* I guess I just got lucky and someone traded in a US Gunbird 2 this week. Haha! At least I don't have to disc swap now.

Finally got my solid yellow N64 controller. So now I have all of the original solid colors (and gold). Yay!
