I'm in.

Ratings can be insignificant if not from a proper source and if said source doesn't explain how the rating was concluded then it is worthless (I'm looking at almost every Game Informer rating ever), but ratings help me with my purchases when they are relevant.

Ebert goes on and on in his reviews, but if I see that he has given a movie 4 starts, I'm very likely to see it. When the only movie critic who has a Star on the Walk of Fame says a movie is 4 stars, I don't need an entire review, a rating will do.

It's all about the source from where the rating is coming from. Today items in grocery stores have ratings from NuVal, which rates the nutritional value of food products. Makes my purchasing habits easier as I don't have to read the entire review as I trust the people who rated it.

I'm very curious as to your thoughts on Nic Cage's Knowing.

You mean Proya's KNOWING? Never saw it. "Cage", I guess, could be considered a polarizing actor. Most of my friends like his movies solely for the fact that he's so awful, but I also know people who think he actually has some chops. Not for being in the Coppala family, I personally think no one would even cast "Cage" for a liquid soap commercial, but I am glad CON AIR was made. One of the funniest movies of all time.

Even the "I'm bankrupt" and "I love Elvis so much I bought his daughter at one point" level?

He could make either of those things awesome.

I mean, without him, some of the movies he did probably would be considered even worse than they already were, just because it was him that was doing all the most ridiculous stuff.

I have a buddy who wrote a decent little piece on the topic.

"Who...What...Where..."

Overacting is indeed a talent of sorts.

BoringSupreez wrote: Sonic CD has had haters since the beginning. Just look at this review on Gamestop for the PC version, written back in 1995. Granted, part of the low score was because it ran poorly on the average PC of the day despite the game's age, but the reviewer had multiple complaints about the gameplay itself. Many people, such as myself, see SCD as one of the best in the series (or even possibly #1), but there are some people who find it impossible to enjoy for one reason or another. In my experience, it's mainly people who discovered the Sonic series post-Dreamcast who expect Sonic games to be mainly focused on speed rather than platforming.
I had the PC port of Sonic 3D Blast, so I can only guess this was just as horrible as that one, so I understand the low review score. No matter how good the game is, if it's broken you can't really enjoy it and you can't recommend it to other people.
