sega cdx hook ups

I recently saw a cdx for 70.00 bucks at a local game store but it was the console only the guy said it was tested and it looks nice i was just wondering if you could use the genesis ac and av plug ins or not? Any answers would be much appreciated=)

you can use genesis 2 AV hookups, but not ones from the original.

Also, the CDX has higher power requirements than a regular genesis, so while I think genesis 1 and 2 power bricks will fit I don't think they provide enough juice.

yellow plug genesis doesnt work with the CDX

Are they hard to find i saw one for like 35.00 on ebay is there an alternative?

If you can find one with the same size plug, polarity, voltage, and the same or greater amperage, it will work. Obviously a correct plug could be attached onto another power brick if the rest was good. Maybe an old laptop power brick might work.

It actually will, but I wouldn't use it for CD games as the amperage out of the standard Genesis 2 PSU isn't enough to power the CD portion, and could potentially cause damage to the CD drive if it tries to draw more power than what is actually available.

The easiest option for an affordable 9.5v output adapter is either a laptop brick (ASUS makes some) or a SIMA SUP-60 (NOT the SUP-60LX, the two get mixed up on amazon and ebay all the time and I'm lucky I was able to get my money back), which is a universal charger for cell phones and digital cameras.
