Metal Gear Solid 3D

Post by jay_red »

I find it strange that there is like no mention of this game anywhere (not just on this forum, but many gaming sites). This is a title I have been looking forward to for a while, I held off playing it on my ps2 recently just because I knew I wanted to get it for the 3ds when it came out.

I got the demo and found it to be good ol' MGS action, and looked forward to the release. I checked review sites because I always like to get a feel for any new stuff or features that it may include, but there are none to be found. It definitely came out today as I had it in my hand, but didnt buy it. I just find it strange that there is little to no talk about this game. I was mad when I found out that the limited edition 3ds wasnt going to be a retail release, as I want to get another one so my fiance and I can play together.

So anyone get this yet or thinking about it? Did you guys even know about it?

There's plenty of talk of it over at Nintendo Life. I picked my copy up right after work for only $37 (Best Buy certificate). I thoroughly enjoyed the demo and look forward to finally playing it. I have the original PS2 release but could never get into it; the new third person camera and crouch walk are a welcome addition to this version. Going to complete RE:R before I dive into Big Boss' game.

I didn't really care for the demo but I think that might have to do with not having the CPP. Gamestop is still sold out of them here. Also I have been on that RE R to much.

The controls is very hard on the 3ds, definitely one of those games that would benefit greatly from the addon stick.

Played the demo myself. Controls took some getting used to, but overall I had a fun time playing it. May end up buying it later.

I played the demo with the Circle Pad Pro so I didnt have any issues with the controls, but I can see it being an issue without the attachment.

edit:
I went ahead and picked this up on my way home from work, I think I will try to hold off till I finish RE: Revelations though.

I'm on the fence about picking up this game. I'm a huge Metal Gear nut, so playing this game on my 3DS would be awesome. The downside is that you can purchase the HD Collection that comes with MGS2, MGS3, and Peace Walker for the same $40 price.

Also Hideo Kojima announced that that the Metal Gear Solid: HD Collection will be coming to the Playstation Vita so if you want to play Metal Gear Solid on the go, that version would be the game to get.

My question with the HD collectiin: does Snake Eater and the games sport the original over-head cam or do they adopt MGS4 third person controls. MGS3D is brilliant because of the new (better) camera controls. I'm enjoying much more than I ever did on the PS2.

Snake Eater is a port of the "subsistence" version, which has the newer camera that you control with the right stick.
