@Kdub
The crate was just an EXAMPLE not the only issue of the game. Any way you sound to me like a guy who enjoys the game the harder/frustrating it gets.

Any way I found the perfect formula to complete the game:
Start a new level:
1)Move in 10% of the level, die
2)Move in 25% of the level, die
3)Move in 40% of the level, die
4)Move in 60% of the level, die
5)Move in 80% of the level, die
6)Move in 90% of the level die
Now you know everything
7)start the level one last time to complete all 3 objectives. done

Total time to complete the mission: 12min
Real time it took because of frustration and no clear idea on what to do: 1hour 20 min of same level replaying.

This is on easy/Agent.

That is how games were before they became so linear you had no choice but to move forward until you triggered a cutscene to move the game along.
No one in the right mind would expect you to know the mission's layout on the first time, or how to even do the objectives. That's part of the game as a challenge, to figure it out. The problem I think we were pointing out to you is with how you're trying to judge the game from playing it with prerequisites of today's FPS games that are effectively telling you how to actually do everything to progress in the game rather than being a game and letting you play it. Does that make sense?

12 mins for whatever mission that is that your referring to, is pretty good, I had a friend who first played PD when it came to XBLA and I convinced him to play it. He hated it at first with no real reason behind his feeling other than he had played all the halo and gears games and loved those shooting games. He loved goldeneye back in the day but going back to PD (today) with no prior experience of that specific game other than goldeneye memories was hard at first. I believe his first mission time was 22 minutes. I also had an earful of complaints like 'this game is designed bad' etc. (I'm not making this up)

And given enough time he was able to get all the crowns and achievements like myself and he got his alien gamer pic which he and I both show proudly on xboxlive. Me and him had a blast beating all 30 of the combat simulator challenges. Plenty of cursing over those dang alien sims!! There's a point in playing the game so much you get so skilled at it, you can overcome even the best AI sims with ease. Its what I would call a thrill that few games can provide these days, the feeling of winning against that really hard challenge is intoxicating.

I think you guys should define the difference between frustrating and challenging. This game is frustrating, pulling on cheap tricks to replay the level so the game looks like it was worth the purchase price is sick to me. I hate this kind of tactic and I have seen it before I just don't know where.

Here is what frustrating just in the final level:
1) Random obelisks , every time they change, does not make sense. Ok maybe it is fun, but at least make a sound way to figure them out. You place the 1 tracking amplifier on the random obelisk, thats it game over. Why can't I just pull it back?

2) Using IR scanner to see enemies, it must be cool like MGS, but here u don't see the enemies, when you use the IR scanner now they are in camouflage mode, you have to hurt your eyes to notice them.

3) I test the game for falling off ledges, apparently you don't fall off ledges in Perfect Dark. WRONG!!!!! Only in the last level you fall off edges and have to repeat the mission.

4) TINY TINY TINY TINY ladder steps in the ice mountains that your eyes must bleed before you notice them, of course you don't want to take off your IR scanner otherwise you won't see the camouflaged enemy!

5) From level 1 to the last level this is no pulling or pushing in Perfect Dark, but guess what? There is one in the final level. If I have not seen the video on youtube I must have gone crazy running around trying to find the path. Nice cheap trick

6) You walk , shoot an enemy he dies. You move along the level, you see an enemy, you shoot him the whole places explodes and you die. Missions failed. Why? I dunno , I guess the game just felt like you shouldn't complete it so easily.

A game where I do my own testing for an hour on the level, watch youtube levels, read the FAQ and still can't finish the level? Am sorry this level design sucks, this is not "hardcore" or "old school" style. I have seen hardcore and old school style gaming, yes am not good at them, but I know why, because am not that skillful. But I don't die randomly or get eye issues because i have to look so hard for things or although you completed all objectives, the missions STILL FAILS!!! TA DAAAA

am sorry if you like this game, I wanted to like it too, and I do, but this level design. To hell with it, it needs a fixed remake

It actually shows on your minimap which are the ones you need to bug.

I'm fairly sure you can fall off edges in other levels. It's just that most levels have ankle high walls that block you.

I don't need to go any further, you solidified my point earlier. You suck at the game and want to blame the game for it. If you would pay attention you would know that you can turn on a scanner to show blips on your radar when you near a correct spot.

Yeah I kind of don't know what this thread is anymore.

Apparently kingmohd84 I think it's time to put the game down, you're obviously hating it.

But it would be hilarious to hear you attempt Perfect Agent and nitpick everything there!

Even I think Perfect Agent is a bitch; I'm pretty sure his head would explode.

Has anyone played Perfect Dark on the xbox and how does it compare to N64? I just bought the xbox version recently and I think I will give it a whirl once I get home from vacation. I have the N64 version but my console is put away.

It was amazingly well done. The controls were great with dual joysticks, the framerate and textures are improved, and yeah. However, it's almost like comparing a console shmup with slowdown to an arcade version that has no slowdown... basically the XBL version is a bit harder in that regard without the slowdown, haha. I still managed to beat Perfect Agent though, lol. It was brutal, I think I had the hardest time with that submarine level and of course the damn Skedar ship.

A real shame we got crappy Goldeneye remakes instead of a port like this that just updated a few things.
