!* YO YO YO *! - Need pics of your AC/DC adapters!

Post by Ziggy »

NEW IDEA (3/7/12): When taking pictures, if possible, please try to have the tip visible in the picture. The most important thing is to have a clear picture of the label, so we can read all the info on it (read below in this first post for more info) but if you can also have the tip visible in the picture, that's a great bonus! The reason being, it will be useful to know for some of the oddball plugs that don't use standard tips, but it also helps for verification purposes on standard plugs as well. If you've already posted a picture, don't worry about redoing it with this new idea. Examples of such pictures (legible label + visible tip) below...
__________________________________________________________________
List of consoles I no longer need pictures of power adapters for:
If a console is not on the list, then I still need a picture of the power adapter! Please pay attention to the regions I've specified, if it says "N64 NTSC-U, then assume I still need pics for PAL and JPN!

NES toaster(NTSC-U) - Still need top loader
SNES (NTSC-U, PAL) - Still need SFC !
Genesis - Still need Mega Drive, all models!
Sega 32X (NTSC-U) Still need PAL and JPN
PSP-3000 (NTSC-U)
PSone (NTSC-U, PAL)
DS Lite (NTSC-U)
N64 (NTSC-U, PAL, still need JPN)
Gamecube (NTSC-U)

Please read:

What I need, and how I need it:

I'm finally gonna compile all the info into one list so it's easy to find. I'm asking every one to take pics of your AC/DC power adapters of all consoles and post them in this thread. Especially if you have rare or obscure consoles. If you feel you have a rare console but don't have a camera, please at least post all the specs listed on the power adapter.

Right now, I'm only looking for pics of official first party brand power adapters. If you have a third party power adapter that you use, and you've been using it for a while with no issues, please still post a pic of it (but only if you can attest that you've used it without any issues). Otherwise, I'm only interested in first party adapters. Please specify the region (NTSC-U, PAL, JPN, etc) the power adapter is intended to be used in.

What I wanna do is make a list with all the specs in text so it's searchable, but also have a picture of each adapter. I think the pictures are essential because all the info is printed right on the power adapter, it's 100% proof that the info is correct. I also plan to include a mini guide along with the list, for all those commonly asked questions about AC/DC adapters.

The following pictures will be used as examples:

^ No good, info can't be read at all!

Don't be afraid of posting an image of an adapter that's already been posted! If I have 2 or 3 pics of the same adapter, that's not a bad thing! It will actually help me out. Once people start posting pics, I'll keep a running list in this post. I'll list consoles that I no longer needs pics of.

Tips for taking the pics: Natural lighting is better, the flash from the camera will usually make it hard to read. Pictures are best taken outside during a sunny day. Though I'll take what I can get. Please make sure the picture is as clear as possible, and as straight as possible (don't take pic on an angle). Please make sure the pic is as large as possible, I will crop/shrink as needed myself without quality loss. Avoid having it resized if you upload it to Photobucket or a similar site, those will often reduce the clarity of the image. You only need to post me a link to the pic, which you can post in this thread. You don't need to wrap IMG tags around the link.

Thanks!

Here, I'll get us started!

Neo•Geo CD (top loading):

Picture is a little dark, and a little blurry (due to the fact that my camera sucks) but at least all the info is clearly readable.

Great idea for a thread, thanks for this. I've always been interested in what some of the more obscure console ones look like, but why is this in "off topic"?

^ It's in Off Topic for now because I'm just requesting the pics from every one, I thought more people might see it here. Once I have all the pics, I'll be putting them into a guide posted in the Guides forum.

@ Hazerd: Thanks!

I think all of the adapters I have are pretty common except these two.
The top one is for the PC Engine Interface Unit and the bottom one is for the SuperGrafx.

There is no natural light (night time) nor is there really good artificial lighting where these things are kept and I am too lazy to untangle them from the whole system setup. If you need me to replace these pictures with better lighting I'll have to wait til morning. Let me know!

Alright Ziggyman, I have 8 pictures for you. The lighting isn't the best, but they're all clearly readable. Of the 8, two are third party (which I'll note), the rest are all originals that came with their respective systems. Here we go.

US Super Nes, original model.

US PSOne, the smaller redesign.

US NES, original
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g42 ... 1329889427

US Sega Master System, Model 1
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g42 ... 1329889440

JP PC Engine Duo. This is a third party adapter, but it works flawlessly.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g42 ... 1329889448

US Genesis, Model 1
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g42 ... 1329889452

US 32X. This adapter will also work for the Game Gear. I've tried this and it works fine.
http://i1101.photobucket.com/albums/g42 ... 1329889456

US Sega CD, Model 1. Another third party. It works perfectly, I've never had issues.

Hope that helps. Good luck with the guide!

Nope, they look perfect! Just let me know if that Japanese text on them is anything worth noting. Thanks!
