Castlevania Dracula X

I know it doesn't match up to Rondo, but for those of us who weren't fortunate enough to have the original, I thought it was still a solid CV title.

Another Capcom arcade beat'em up ported pretty well to the SNES. Well, you can call it a hack and slash game, but they're the same thing in my mind. You can level up in this one like you can in Knights of the Round. Both of those games seem like precursors to Capcom's awesome Dungeon & Dragon beat'em ups that would come out later. Plenty of good stuff on the SNES/Super Famicom for beat'em up fans

Gamer, have you considered writing a Hidden Gems of Beat em ups article?

I know you wrote the 101 article, but after seeing the number of beat em ups you've turned me on to from this thread alone, I'd love to see a full fledged column on the subject.

Its a genre I've always loved and can never get enough of, and yet I don't know much at all about the outlier games that didn't become famous, so I always want more.

The evil wizard Homncruise is raising an army so that he can take over the world. You are Ray, a descendant of the legendary Aqutallion warriors, and only you can defeat him. But first you must seek out fellow descendants of the Aqutallion to join your party and undergo a series of trials to claim your birthright, only then will you be able to beat Homncruise and his fearsome generals.

This game is widely regarded as a classic. I don't agree. It has good animation and graphics, but I feel the extreme difficulty is a sign of poor game design. Still, it's Star Wars and belongs on the list.

Frankly, the easiest thing to do would be to add all three at once: Super Empire Strikes Back and Super Return of the Jedi. I'm not sure if it holds with the spirit of the list, but we have a long way to go to 200.

100. Batman Returns

People always forget about this gem. Not only was it a solid Batman game, (Final Fight, replace Cody/Haggar with Batman,) but it is also a solid movie-game.

What's funny is that Konami is such a big name. How do so many people not know about the great Batman games they did?

Batman (NES), Batman Returns (SNES), and Batman Arkham Asylum. What else Batman was good?

Sorry for the double-post, but it will only let me quote so many times. (Man, why can't we have quote pyramids?)

At the time the SNES hit, the PC I had was a Commodore 64, and it had a world building game called Sim City. Looking back on it now the C64 version was extremely primitive, lacking police/fire stations, stadiums, railways and disasters. The interface was clunky, and I the keyboard controls were awkward to say the least.

Then I heard that it was on the SNES. After I begged my parents to finally get me a SNES, among the first batch of titles I got was the SNES version of Sim City. What a difference going from

to

The music is classic, the gameplay smooth and the menus clean. It's a shame it never appeared on the NES, but the SNES version is without a doubt one of my favorite games.

I can't believe I forgot about this one. Great game that I tinkered around with quite a bit as a kid.
