I'll give a simple answer: just use your discs.

There.

Ps1 games always look kinda funky to me on my ps3. I can't really put my finger on it, but something seems off about them. Might have to do with how it upscales the games to 480p. If the ps3 would just output a 240p signal for ps1 games they'd probably look great.

PS1 games output at 240p on a PS2 using component. Your TV may not support that specific signal.

At least some PS1 games do 480. When playing Gran Turismo 1 (on a PS2 slim via official Sony component cables to an LCD HDTV...), the screen flickers as modes change from 480i in menus to 240p in racing. Just putting that out there for the truly detail oriented.

And agreed that some HDTVs don't support 240p. Not sure if it is the majority or minority of them (I'm not a TV guy). Exteneral upscalers are available from $50 to $1000+

playing ps1 one games on the ps3 is just soo god damn convenient, only problem i have is when i play FF2 on the ps3 it gets severe graphical glitches like every time my char takes a step the screen flashes and it gives me a headache i had to plug in my ps1 to play it proper.

Yup, that sort of thing happens.

Is there a list on the internet that lists all the PS1 games that have problems playing on PS3 like there is for PS2? Wikipedia just has some weird list of games that "play" on PS3...
