Might bring me in. I loved the general idea of the first game, but the gameplay just looked so bland. An improved battle system would increase my interest in the game tenfold, as the battle system was pretty much my only gripe.
I will say that the battle system of the first is very basic. And really there's no overworld to explore so much as a "list" of things to do. If that makes sense. It wasn't a game for explorers though. So if you knew that going in and saved playing it for when the mood struck, then it was great fun based on the hilarious premise and dialogue. Hell, even the enemies often made me chuckle with their references to yester-games.

But yeah, the 2nd looks to keep the same ridiculous shit that made me love the first, but also fix a lot of the potholes that detractors hated.

You could say the same about this post

^ Explain?

For the love of god, please don't make me create a list of every PS3 RPG to backup my statement. I can say with certainty there are around 70-80 RPGs on PS3 (easily over 100 if you're willing to stretch the definition of "RPG" and include stuff like the Musou games and other action and/or adventure based games that involve RPG elements), and every Sony console has tons of RPGs, so I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Please do and downloads don't count in my book, specially if its a PS1 download. And it has to be a full RPG not just have a few elements. Something that the vast majority of people would agree is an RPG. For instance the Yakuza games you listed earlier, I don't think would count. If you can still name close to 100 I would be shocked and go buy a PS3 tomorrow. I am not trying to be sarcastic as I love rpgs and would love to know all the titles on the ps3.

No, they count, the RGG games are full on RPGs in every way.

Lets not kid ourselves. There is a fair amount of RPGs on the PS3, but the amount of JRPGs making it to the West has gone down significantly. And the number of Western RPGs has probably risen a little bit.

The PS2 is indeed an RPG juggernaut, but that's irrelevant to the conversation.
