Issue with Loewe CRT

Post by Thamiel »

Hey all, just got a great deal on a Loewe Arcada CRT. This thing is massive! Just having a slight issue with it at the moment when running the SNES, the picture is a little to the left of where it should be as well as having some mild distortion across the top of the image.

The left hand side of the image is a little lower than the right hand side. That issue isn't present on the TVs default menu screens so i'm thinking it might be the SCART cable i'm using or the SNES itself.

Thoughts?

The picture being slightly to the left is the case with most game system when run @60hz. Say an American or Japanese system or a PAL system running at 60hz. As for the distortion, dunno. You are using a RGB Scart cable, right?
Every tv has a secret service menu where lot´s of settings can be adjusted. If you´re just using this monitor for games, it might be worth to bother with this menu, but be careful, it might fuck up your tv to a point where you cannot reset the settings to default.

Agree, the hidden Service Menu should take care of this. Others have bricked their TV, really research this with what codes to access, enable and disable the various functions.

Yeah using a RGB scart cable, I take it i'd need the service manual for this?

UPDATE: Thanks for the help lads, jumped into the sevice menu and played with the geometry options until I got something I was happy with. It's still a little off centre but it's only noticeable when "PAUSE" appears on the screen.

A slight other niggle i'm having is it looks like there is a tiny bit of blur whenever the screen is moving quickly (running across screens in a platformer etc.) This dosn't appear on my newer Trinitron which i was using with a SCART to YUV transcoder. Any ideas?
