My local used game shop has both an Intellivision II and an INTV. Which model is better? Are there any compatibility issues with either model? And which one is rarer?
They're selling the INTV with all the hook-ups and controllers and some games for $50. Good price or bad price? I didn't see a price on the Intellivisoin II.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Intellivision Model Questions
By INTV, do you mean the first model? The second model is better than the first, but I don't know about the third model.

Re: Intellivision Model Questions
Third and first versions are better than II just because the buttons can actually be pressed in. But if size is an issue II's fine or if you like detachable controllers, it also has a on/off light but so does the III.
Are the games that come with the system cib or at least come with the controller inserts?

Re: Intellivision Model Questions
The INTV II has some compatibility issues. 1) It has a slightly different sound chip so some games sound a little bit different. 2) Some games (I believe they're the games made by Coleco) are incompatible with the system and will not play.
Re: Intellivision Model Questions
The INTV II has the exact same sound chip as the original Intellivision, both of those problems are caused by the INTV II's EXEC BIOS, which is slightly different than the original system.Opa Opa wrote:The INTV II has some compatibility issues. 1) It has a slightly different sound chip so some games sound a little bit different. 2) Some games (I believe they're the games made by Coleco) are incompatible with the system and will not play.

That's a big problem, then. I guess I'm going for the other one. So is $50 a good deal for it? It comes with the hook-ups, the controllers, and what looks to be around 15-20 games with it. Sorry, not exactly sure what ones were there, I just saw it in the store while I was buying other games, then got to thinking about getting it later on.Opa Opa wrote:The INTV II has some compatibility issues. 1) It has a slightly different sound chip so some games sound a little bit different. 2) Some games (I believe they're the games made by Coleco) are incompatible with the system and will not play.

Go for it. Even if you could find it cheaper on ebay, you'd be paying 15 bucks for shipping. It's such a fun system- Tron Deadly Discs, He-man, and Mission X are my favs for the system. It blew away the 2600, 30 years ago anyway.BurningDoom wrote:That's a big problem, then. I guess I'm going for the other one. So is $50 a good deal for it?
