Re: Kingdom of Amalur
My version is on the PS3, I'm not sure what the differences are between the PC and console games though.
Re: Kingdom of Amalur
Just finished the main quest line tonight with maybe 30 side quest completed. All told it took me a little over 25 hours. Overall I quite liked the game. I do find it a bit easy, especially if I do side quests. Playing it on hard I had to skip side quests to prevent myself from out leveling content, as well as skipping on potions and reckonings to keep things interesting. There were only a few encounters that were consistently challenging for me: threshes, fighting The Cur of House Vengeance, and Gadflow could be a bit of a pain if certain RNG stuff all kicked in at once. I hear the devs are looking into adding a nightmare mode down the line, which I think would help with this quite a bit.
Still had a lot of fun, as the combat is nice and fast, and the story was a fun ride, albeit a very traditional fantasy story. I'll probably keep coming back to the game now and then in my spare time just to finish off all of the side quests and just to soak in the rest of Amalur's lore. Usually I'm struck by pangs of buyers remorse when picking up a game at launch, but that didn't happen here. I quite enjoyed this game.

The more I play the main quest line, the more interesting the story becomes. Though it follows some very familiar motifs and archetypes, its rather intriguing. I like the concept of how your character is "fateless" in a world where everything is pre-determined. It makes you feel quite powerful.
