Now that would just be silly..Luke wrote: Man, you missed the opportunity to make an "egg on your face" pun.
Legal backups, awesome homebrew potential, and basically my entire non-MAME emulation all on a nice 120GB hard drive. (PS3 handily trumps the oXBox in the emulation scene, IMHO.)dsheinem wrote: What benefits are you getting from having the PS3 hacked?
I'm on my XBox more than my PS3, and even before I hacked my PS3, I always had XBox Live for my go-to online service. So, the only benefit I really see that I'm missing out on is unfortunately the awesome RB Fight Club community..
Maybe if I can score a cheap early PS3...

You know, at some point when you're spraying a yellow liquidy substance out of a canister that looks like nuclear waste on white bread, somehow the name "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" just doesn't make much sense any more.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
None of that even comes close to making up for missing out on free online gaming via PSN. Emulation can easily be done elsewhere and is not worth sacrificing PSN for. The legal backups thing is rubbish, I feel confident saying that pretty much no one hacks their PS3 so they can rip their games. That leaves homebrew being the only practical benefit, which isn't saying much.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:Legal backups, awesome homebrew potential, and basically my entire non-MAME emulation all on a nice 120GB hard drive. Shin Megami Tensei: Digital Devil Saga 1 & 2 will be coming to PSN. Try as he might, it'll be pretty hard for CRTGamer to complain about this one.

damn.
I hate power outages!
I fear for my electronics!
power went off and on and off again.
Five minutes later power came back.
but the damage was done, my game was turned off.
but my ps3 went to safe mode when it turned on again.
grr.

And that's why I keep everything unplugged unless I use it a lot....Except the VCR. I like it's clock display. Plus, if it was going to give out it I figure it would have done it during the lightning strike, when I lost the TV and the DVD player. Could have still watched movies with the VCR....if I'd had a spare tv.......It was a sad week.flojocabron wrote:damn.

Sometimes someone you are very close to will say something that will take you totally off guard. Last night my wife and I were sitting on the couch watching tv and saw back to back commercials for Mob Wives and Basketball Wives.
In disgust, my wife who is rather reserved said "They should rename all of these shows 'Trifling Ass Bitches' ".

umm.. I do. I don't pirate games at all, and I legitimately like to keep some of my games on the hard drive, since I loan most of my [small] PS3 collection to my younger sister often..brunoafh wrote: The legal backups thing is rubbish, I feel confident saying that pretty much no one hacks their PS3 so they can rip their games. I'd like to do this with a PS3 some day. Especially since the earlier models BD drives tend to crap out a fair bit.Rurouni_Fencer wrote:brunoafh wrote:None of that even comes close to making up for missing out on free online gaming via PSN. Anyways, I wonder what's going on with eastbound I-70 right now. I had to cancel my flight lesson (it's too windy anyway as I later learned) because they have it completely closed off. They turned everybody around. I looked as I was on the overpass and couldn't see any accident or roadwork. Hmm.
Older. Not wiser.
