I went to a local show last night, saw a bunch of metalcore/deathcore bands and one hardcore one. It was a pretty good time. I'd definitely say the hardcore fans go crazier, there was a lot of violent moshing and someone threw a table. They almost stopped the show, but thankfully didn't.
Also, I got the new All Shall Perish album last week, it kicks ass. Seeing them april 21st.

I can attest to the rowdiness of hardcore fans. My friend wanted me to go with him to an Enter Shikari/Whitechapel show. Good lord. I was bouncing around (like I generally do at a concert) and some guy actually hit me in the face with his fist. Im not sure if it was intentional or not, but I actually thought my nose was almost broken for a minute or two. The kids at that show really did not care about the people around them. Now compare that to the Misfits/Juicehead/Cryptics show I went to back in October, and holy moly the difference is incredible. The people at the Misfits show were extremely civil and were actually aware of their surroundings. I got shoved to the ground at that show and 2 different people actually helped me up.

I think you misunderstood what I meant by "hardcore". I used it to mean hardcore punk not heavy music/metal-punk fusion genres. Not trying to nitpick. But yeah metalcore and deathcore shows seem to be encouraging the violent moshing these days. One of my friends did get his nose broken during an All That Remains show.

Usually when I see the term "Hardcore" I automatically glaze over it and assume that person is talking about "HxC" bands. Either that or Cancer Bats. no worries, man lol

I haven't been to any shows with fans that rowdy, but every Metalcore/Deathcore band I've seen has a ton of dipshits that just swing their arms and legs around with no concern. There was one girl that actually went around hitting people. She would spin around with her hands closed and just smack people even if they weren't in the pit. Man, the shit I have to put up with just to see some Metal.

Whatever happened to "going to a concert to just have fun"? Seriously. When I went to go see Streetlight Manifesto back in August, that was almost the most fun I've ever had at a show. I was bouncin around just dancing my ass off and a couple kids saw what I was doing and actually joined in. I ended up creating a dance circle. It was dope. Not metal, but still an awesome awesome concert.

That seems to only exist in Doom/Sludge Metal and Traditional Heavy Metal. I went to a Pentagram concert and everyone (including me) was just banging their head. No moshing, no hardcore dancing, no bullshit. A Doom Metal band Beast in the Field performed before The Black Dahlia Murder and people were just throwing up the horns and head banging. Hell towards the end of their set everyone in front were banging their heads in unison. I like to mosh, but hardcore dancing is absolute bullshit. It's like the Metalcore guys saw Death Metal shows and went "Pfft, we can do better than that!" while completely missing the point.

My friends have a metal band, and they deffinetly aren't big or anything. They do not at all encourage moshing though. Someone started at one of their sets, and they stopped the show and told them, in the lead singers word's, "Cut that shit out or I fucking swear I will come down there, beat the fuck out of you with a fucking guitar, and choke you out with my mic cord, got it?"

Everybody who knew the guys cheered, and I was trying not to crack up at the fact of how ironic it was that a metal christian band (Oxymoron?) was doing this... I'm actually cracking up at it right now.

Just so ya'll know, the band is called Arisen. You can look 'em up on youtube. Darkness Divided is a band out of San Antonio they play with a lot, you oughta look them up too.
------
So, I've been looking for some new bands. I've been liking what I've heard from Evergreen Mills. I tried listening to JFAC, but I can't get into that hog grunting stuff they do. Vocals are 90% of what make or break metal bands for me. I'm pretty picky about it too. I don't have that much I listen to regularly, mostly to random mixes on the radio.

Also, how's the new Nightwish singer? I only have Once on CD, and haven't really got into them besides that.

Man, I just looked and noticed that I haven't played a show since September when our drummer quit. I cannot wait to get back up, throw down, and watch the fans ignite!
