Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I first heard the term in King of Kongs and assumed it was because the screens were static in those days, and the term must have gave way to level when scrolling started to become feasible.

Note that I said that "levels" is a more modern term than "boards", which is not the same as saying the NES is modern, which would also be correct, note that modernity ended, at best, in 1990, making the NES and the arcade era "modern" and our current consoles "post-modern".

Zing is right about the single screens being the reason the term was created.

Haha, my mother-in-law does that too. There's a box of N64 games at my house that she labeled "Intendo stuff".

I've heard a couple of stupid things later, sadly these were said by people who should know better...

1. I was talking to a video game vendor at a con recently. He said he had a bunch of TurboGrafx-16 stuff back at his store, but didn't bring it because "that stuff sucks and no one would want it." :x

2. I was in line at the retro game store the other week. Guy in front of me asked if they had a copy of Final Fantasy Tactics and the cashier pulls out a loose copy. And when I say loose I mean it, the clerk just pulled it from behind the counter, it wasn't even in a generic CD case or anything. The customer commentated that it was scratched to shit on the outer edges and they clerk says, "That's okay, all the game data is located in the inner part of the disc, near the hole."

Lines? In a retro gaming store? Where is this wonderland you speak of?

To be honest, most of the lines exist only because neighborhood folks go in to sell their stacks of cheap crappy games and then leave in a huff when the clerk offers them about five bucks in store credit.

Lol, that sort of happened to me. I went in to trade a bunch of PS2 games and a couple Gamecube ones. I expected about $5 to $10. They offered me $20. I thought that was awesome and was gonna go with it. But then my mom got all rage face and said "We could get more by putting them in a tag sale" and refused to let me trade them in. :/
