Wow, Mass Effect really sucks

Post by Gamerforlife »

Here I thought I would be playing an rpg, because...you know, that's what Bioware does. Or so I thought anyway, apparently Mass Effect is really just a crappy Halo ripoff. Jeep riding levels, shielded enemies, shooter based gameplay. WTF!? Who the hell made this game, can't be Bioware

So after being let down by this game and Bioshock, maybe it's time to let my 360 go back to collecting dust.

Oh, and did I mention how cheap combat is? Or lame the jeep riding levels actually are

May I just say one thing, Bioware does action-rpgs. An RPG is a role-playing game, it means you play the role of somebody, most times through a large adventure. IMO KOTOR is better but I thought Mass Effect was decent.

Can you explain further? I'm having a blast with Mass Effect, at least the PC version. It's unfortunately buggy..it feels a bit more like a Troika game than a Bioware game.

Please elaborate as to why you think it isn't a good game. Granted, I didn't like it either, but I could tell it was quality stuff.

I hated the artificial wooden conversations (I just said "hi" and got her ****ing life story), I didn't care for the Gears of War-derivative combat (they did it better), and I thought that many of the environments were bland cut-and-paste jobs.

I could still tell that it was a good action RPG (with actual role-playing!), but it just wasn't for me.

Enter the Bioshock defense force.

What's wrong with Bioshock? Not run and gun enough for you? Overall there's not a whole lot that's truly innovative about the gameplay but it was incredibly immersive and fun, I thought. Did you get as far as the twist?

Ending sucked, though - that was a real let down after all I went though.

I think I didn't enjoy Bioshock as much as I should of because I went into it with a "game of the year" mentality. The press raved about it, but the narrative and moral choices really didn't grab me like I thought they would. I also saw the twist coming, but it was still a good one. I did however enjoy the atmosphere immensely.

What do you expect when you go in with expectations as high as the sky? You're likely to be let down.

It wasnt his fault for expecting that. Bioshock was incredibly overrated. I didn't like it much either.
