Re: Values of Japanese MegaDrive Games?
That's just in my 4 local stores and what I recall from DenDenTown last month.racketboy wrote:Can anybody give me a ballpark estimate value of the following Japanese Megadrive games?
Alien Soldier - $170 ~ $200
Batman Forever - Never seen it...
Battle Mania Daiginjou - $90~$100
Comix Zone - - Never seen it...
G Wars - Never heard of it...
Justice League - Never seen it...
Koutetsu Teikoku - Never seen it...
Maximum Carnage - Never seen it...
Panorama Cotton - $100 ~ $120
Ristar - $30~40
Slap Fight - Never seen it...
Chuck Rock - Never seen it...
Judge Dread - Only seen the US version, $60
WWF Raw - Never seen it...
Thanks!
One more, YuYu Hakusho, the Treasure 4player fighter, usually $100+.
Great! That helps a lot!
Pink Godzilla was claiming that these games are so rare in Japan that they have sold for $300-$500 USD
Batman Forever
Justice League
Maximum Carnage
Somehow I find that hard to believe considering they are easily found in other regions dirt cheap.
Flak Beard mentioned he saw a Batman game at Super Potato for about 11,000 yen (a little over $100 USD) so I'm thinking that might sound more reasonable for Batman Forever.
What is your insight one this?

I speculate that the main reason that they're "rare" is because that during the MD/SNES/TG era, US/EU games released in Japan were often regarded as inferior and shunned simply based on that they were foreign or un-Japanese. So then possibly people and/or stores were ET'ing them when they realized they couldn't sell them. And simply they are "rare" because they are now scarce for a JP region published title.racketboy wrote:Great! That helps a lot!

Just because the number of copies remaining or printed is low doesn't make it a good game~
I've seen plenty of US games that I would see for a few bucks at EB going for $40~$90 simply because they're imported; here at least.
Flak seeing Batman Forever for $100 doesn't seem unreasonable at Super Potato... They over-charge for their "imports" IMO especially if he went to the Akihabara (only Tokyo) location. I supposed they're appealing to the Japanese collector with super common US games but uncommon in Japan... Or foreigners that truly haven't a clue. Meh, go figure~
I still remember when I bought Shinobi Legions for the Saturn in Japan long ago for $5/500yen and bringing to my local import store (when I got back to CA) and them giving me $40 for it. What's rare one place could be ridiculously common elsewhere. Just like good pizza in the states, ain't none to be found here.
well I heard Acclaim actually dumped a few remaining copies in Japan because they had too many sitting aroundD.D.D. wrote:I speculate that the main reason that they're "rare" is because that during the MD/SNES/TG era, US/EU games released in Japan were often regarded as inferior and shunned simply based on that they were foreign or un-Japanese. Anyway, what do you think the "going rate" would be for them?

There was quite a few discussions on the SHMUPS forum about Slap Fight, and it seems that the going rate is usually between $100-$120, but someone saw an auction go for $170. Here's a link!
Don't know about the others.
