Seems like it's actually the younger kids who are more willing to try and appreciate retro gaming. They haven't developed that “too cool” attitude yet. I brought in a PC Engine, Neo Geo, and some Super Famicom games to the elementary school earlier this year and kids were fighting over the 16 bit systems! It was hilarious to see how intense 11 year old boys can get while playing a Sailor Moon puzzle game. In addition, I used to work with a challenging population of special ed/behavioral kids and I would occasionally use (semi-)educational games as a type of calming/therapeutic measure. A slew of them got absolutely hooked on DOS Lemmings. Contrast this to my high school kids who will trash their Xbox 360 as soon as the 720 (or whatever) is released.

The key here is to find out what's in their games libraries and be all, "Hey Johnny! I hear you're trading in all your 360 stuff at Gamestop to get the 720 when it comes out. Remember that copy of Culdacept Saga that your eccentric uncle gave you one Christmas that you never played, and has been sitting in the closet since then? I hear Gamestop is only paying $5 for it. How about I buy it off you for a tenner!" Johnny gets a "good deal" and you get Culdacept Saga. Everyone wins! Congratulatory high fives for all!

Uggh. I can agree on most things, except for "all the 360 bro gamers". I have a 360, and I do play a couple of bro games. (Fuck all you guys, I like Gears) But really, didn't you guys have bro games at your time? For some, it might have been DOOM. Maybe it was Super Street Fighter 2. Maybe it was Ms. Pacman. Hell, it mighta been Pong. But the point is, we're forgetting what its like to be a teenager. I'm one, and I love retro games. But I came from a family that has many influences. I'm the only gamer. But my family, up until I was about 10, did buy me games. That's why I had so many weird ones that noone heard of. It was the cheapest on the shelf. Actually, that's how I got into Zelda. Twilight Princess was cheapest on the shelf, so that's what my Grandma bought me.

Anyways, bwah on kids, they suck, teenagers are worse, retro gaming is going to die if we don't save it. Got it.

I agree. Never liked the term "brogamer." I understand what it means and why it's there, but I'm a real gamer and I play games with my bros. If Tekken's not a brogame I don't know what is.

Yeah, brogamer is a shitty term, but I do agree with the fact that they did exist in all eras. I don't know about anyone else, but Goldeneye on N64 was one of the ultimate. I can't even begin to count the endless hours spent with 3 of my friends just going berzerk. Liscense to Kill with pistols only is still my favorite multiplayer scenario.
