I stereotype the Xbox 360 with young gamers and the bro-dude frat boys, also i was in a local game shop this past week and some 16 yr old kid was in there and talking about how he has never owned a cartridge based console and his first console was a ps2, makes me /facepalm.

The PS1 came out when he was born. The PS2 came out when he was 5. Seems reasonable that his first console was a PS2. And it seems reasonable that he wouldn't dip back two generations as a minor.

We're just all OLD.

This is how I've always been.

I'm not a retro gamer, or a modern gamer, I'm just a gamer.

There are too many good games, in every era, for me to ignore one of them for any reason.

Well today I had pretty much the entire bus making assumptions about my sexuality when I started talking about Zelda. Then I was asked about why I'm playing a Neo-Geo Pocket if it doesn't have 3D graphics.
Being a 13 year-old retrogamer isn't easy.

If you hate Zelda, you are not a manly man.

Get used to it. Life is hard for non-conformists. Most of humanity's social behavior is based around promoting conformity and persecuting non-conformists.

Now, now. I play modern games too. I'm definitely not a hater. I played PC during my early years, but my first console was a PS2 also. It's pretty reasonable when you're that age!

My circle of friends is a bit weird when it comes to retro games. They think they're neat, and like seeing my collection. They don't really care to play the old games though. One of my friends though has never sold a single game. He still has his SNES, PS1, N64, etc. that he got, but he never plays them.

As CFFJR said, I'm not a "retro" or "modern" gamer. I'm just a gamer. The majority of my time is with modern consoles honestly, but I like everything.

I'm finding myself spending more time on retro-PC games though. GoG is just wonderful. :D

I too, am in the camp that's heart gets broken when I see kids my age dismiss anything that isn't brogamer material.

If you want to be one of the non-conformists all you have to do is dress just like us and listen to the same music we do.

But then I would be conforming to the non-conformists. :(
