Best version of Monopoly

Post by johnnyonthespot »

I'm a huge fan of Monopoly, both the actual board game and video games.

I was wondering what your opinion was of the best version of Monopoly in VG form.

The one that comes to mind for me is Monopoly Party (Gamecube or Playsation). Mainly due to the ability to adjust the game rules (e.g. Landing on "GO" will give $400 rather than $200). Also it keeps track of your stats. I think I racked up something like 1500 games on Monopoly Party.

Thoughts?

You should ask this on Boardgamegeek.

Bring yourself a nuclear shelter or something akin to it, you'll need it.

The best version of Monopoly is the nonexistent one. Or if you insist, there's a modernized one that does electronic transactions and has more modern locations.

To be honest, the only version Ive played more than once was Monopoly on the GB. I know Monopoly EX on the GBA was very well received but other than that I kinda stay away from Monopoly. Boardgame Top Shop has taken the gameplay of Monopoly and added more variety to it, and I can play as a Cactus.

weird... GB is the only vg version of Monopoly I've played as well. It's perfectly fine. And oddly, I mentioned Board Game Top Shop in a YSG article a week or so ago. Fun stuff.

I noticed. It is one of my favorite 4 player PSX games (I think it goes to 8). Nintendo recently made a game like it with Square.

But that is us getting off topic. Back to Monopoly

I've played the Wii version and enjoyed it well enough. You can play the standard monopoly or some versions with little mini games and different rules and whatnot. If you like monopoly, you should try Fortune Street/Boom Street for Wii too. It's like monopoly with stocks, plus mario and dragon quest characters and locations.

I had a sealed 1960s Monopoly board game but my baby cousins opened it last summer. :x

Fortune Street looks like a lot of fun.
