MAME Game of the Week Tournaments: Mario Bros.

Welcome to the MAME Game of the Week Tournaments!

After the article about setting up MAME on the front page of the site, General_Norris and I were talking and came up with the idea to have everyone play one game on MAME every week and have mini-competitions.

So here's the information and rules!

• Game can be played in any version of MAME
• Game must be played on default settings unless otherwise specified
• You can use any controller you wish
• All scores must be accompanied by a screenshot (use F12; it will be saved to the folder "snap" in your MAME folder)
• Tournaments will go from 12:00 PM EST on Sunday until 6:00 PM EST on the second Saturday after the start of the tournament.

I'll also let everyone know ahead of time what the next week's game is so you can get a ROM for it beforehand.

Don't worry about it dude. As I see it, this is a way to help us improve at these games.

I only wish I could make that 48K score translate to an actual machine.

Managed to get MAME installed and working, and had a few goes at DK. I'm gonna need some time to practise I think because this game is brutal!

It's pseudo-random, so there are no hard patterns in the game. The way barrels go down stairs can be controlled, but it's an advanced technique.

I'm also terrible at this game, you will see when I get my high score here.

I've been following this, and finally can submit a worthy score.



It's no 50K (geez!) but as I'm doing other score challenges on the forums, it has helped my play on this and other games by doing it.

It's not a shmup, give me a break
