Another Hakko owner here. I forget the model. It's a dual hot air + iron station.
Like others have mentioned, keep your tips clean and tinned. The more you neglect cleaning, the faster oxidation sets in. Tips aren't particularly cheap to replace, imho.
I recommend you watch some basic soldering tutorials on youtube. I think Ziggy posted a decent one some months ago?
