Syberia, decent starter for adventure games?

Beneath a Steel Sky I think I tried when I grabbed it off GoG awhile back, but I didn't get very far or something. Think I got stuck. I can say I think I might be more interested right now in the "first person" styled point and click adventure games, if that makes sense. Isn't Myst like this? As in, you don't really point a character around to do things, rather you are the character with nobody onscreen, it's just kind of what "you" are seeing. So maybe that kind of style is interesting me more now... I dunno. But yeah, maybe Myst really is where I should start.

Don't give up on BASS! It's one of my favorite games... The puzzles get a little weird a couple of times, but most of it is pretty intuitive. Joey is without a doubt one of the best video game characters of all time.

If you're interested in first-person adventure games, then you should give the Penumbra games a chance.

I've played a good chunk of the first game actually, I like it a lot and maybe more than the Amnesia games. I've only played the demo of that one though, but both series seem pretty awesome.
